    Thanks for your feedback on Single Sign-On(SSO). We last updated this idea in October 2025, and we’re sorry it’s taken some time for us to provide another. We will do our best to keep you more informed of progress as it continues.

    Where SSO is today

    We’ve built an SSO capability for accountant and bookkeeper partner practices using OpenID Connect (OIDC). We ran a closed beta with a small group of partners, which is now complete, and those partners are connected. We’re still confirming how and when other accounting and bookkeeping partners can access it. SSO isn’t currently available to businesses or IT providers. We’ll share access details in a future update once they’re confirmed.

    What we’re looking at next

    We’re exploring what it would take to offer SSO to small businesses. Business needs differ from accountant and bookkeeper partners’, so we’re looking at:

    Don't get too excited. The article mentioned by @James Lewis seems to be for accounting practices and not end user businesses.... If that's you then congratulations. That said it's a move in the right direction.
    The article will come up in the chat bot if you ask about SSO.

    A note to everyone on this thread, the status of this idea is still "In Development". If Xero has abandoned this idea, as has been mentioned, then I would expect the status to change to "Not in pipeline".
    As of today, there are 11 ideas marked as "In Development". Of those this idea is the highest voted by 178 votes. (651 votes to 473 for the second-place idea).
    That said development effort for many SAS companies seems to be on the new shiny AI stuff. I hope Xero hasn't diverted dev time away from this 13+ year old idea that many SAS companies have had for years.

    Love that the need for SSO is being recognized. There are a huge number of SMB customers that use the Microsoft 365 Business Premium licence (any business with up to 300 users) as their core IT service offering. SSO support is included. Looking forward to this being implemented.
