    +1 on this. The notification issue is really just a symptom of Xero not doing much on the collections side.
    We've worked around it using Chargetree (https://chargetree.co) alongside Xero also handling the full cycle from automated reminders through to a live AR dashboard, and syncs payment status back to Xero automatically. Helped us close the visibility gap, but you shouldn't need a separate tool for something this fundamental.
