Hi community, appreciate your feedback. Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

Been using Xero for 2 months following 20+ years on MYOB.
This automatic creation of a new contact after pressing enter (or tab) is the biggest own goal on the Xero UI. We now have a regular occurence of duplicate contacts. Yes, I understand these can be merged but it is totally unnecessary. When typing part of a contacts name and pressing enter this should not by default create a whole new contact. Who on earth came up with that system? Creating a new contact should be the least accessible option! Also I'd prefer it if a contact could not be created without at least an email address or phone number. Just a name only contact is pretty weak. I note that this is still an issue which was flagged in 2024. Get on with it!!!
