I would also like a disable function - I use my xero file inbox for more than just a drop-place for straight forward invoices, bills and receipts and preferred the file preview option with drop-down to elect how to deal with the file (e.g. rename, delete, create bill, create invoice, archive etc) than the automatic smart document capture option that I now cannot turn-off.
I have found the smart document capture is ok for simple or straight-forward files but anything that requires some nuance, it has now doubled or tripled the time I spend on that file. The data extraction is often inaccurate and requires further checking and editing from me.
I agree with the a smart document capture disable option, or alternatively return to the previous file preview screen that was there before this beta was rolled out, and have smart document capture as an option in the dropdown menu from there for those that want to use it.

Hi Julie, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having more control over how documents move through Files would help make document management workflows smoother.
The suggestion is to add an option to bypass or disable the Smart Document Capture review process, so documents can be stored directly without needing manual review.
We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can continue to track interest.

Hi everyone, appreciate all the engagement here by far.
We understand you’re looking for a way to apply tracking categories directly while reviewing documents uploaded into Xero, so transactions can be coded completely.
Having tracking options available earlier in the workflow could help reduce extra steps when managing expenses across different teams, projects, or locations.
We’ll continue to monitor the conversation and gather feedback from the community as this idea gains support.

Further to this, it would be useful to have the option to add a new tracking category, not just select from those already existing.
Please either have a Smart Document Capture disable/turn-off option for those of us that don't want to use it, or return to the old file inbox with option to preview and have Smart Document Capture as a drop-down option when selecting what to do with the file. Either way, I do not like Smart Document Capture and it has negatively impacted my workflow and increased the time and effort it takes me to process files in Xero.
