Thanks for everyone's feedback on the new manual journals experience here.
It's best if we track feedback on each suggestion separately so our product teams can consider the support, and we can best eep you updated of changes.
In the new experience where the option to show journal on a cash basis has been ticked you'll see the reference 'Appears on All reports' on the posted journal, alternatively where deselected this'll show as 'Appears on Accrual reports' - this replaces the previous notation of 'Accrual and cash' and 'Accrual only' - We'd like to understand if there is wider confusion and interest in the previous terminology and have updated the title of this idea to reflect this point so we can track this.
Date entry in new manual journals continues to work as it did in the previous experience. You can find the available shortcuts in Xero Central’s date-entry guidance. If you're running into any issues when trying to type dates I"d recommend coming into our Xero Support team for a closer inspection.
In the previous experience, entering “=” in the inbuilt calculator was ignored. In the new experience, Xero recognises this character. I’ve shared this behaviour with our team for consideration and also highlighted your feedback about the Give feedback button.
We’ve recently released several updates to improve the new experience, including:
Improved screen layout, column sizing, spacing and typography, so most users can view more journal details without horizontal scrolling
Optimised display for widescreen monitors
More space in the description field, including scrolling for longer entries
Automatic removal of currency symbols when pasting values from Excel, helping prevent validation errors
The ability to open individual journals in new tabs for easier review
Support for partner products to send journals directly into Xero
A longer display time for the “Journal posted” confirmation, making it easier to review the journal you’ve just posted
We appreciate your feedback about scrolling and recommend joining the related ideas to follow further updates in this area.

The new manual journal interface is not accountant-friendly, particularly when making multiple adjustments involving complex or compound journal entries. It would be helpful to have a more efficient and user-friendly way to enter and manage these adjustments.
