Tracking - Ability to bulk Archive categories
We use tracking categories of building jobs. It would be great to archive the tracking category once the job it complete. Allowing a P&L by tracking category report to only show active jobs.

Online Invoicing - Auto attach PDF of invoice when saving as Draft
I've noticed that Xero is retiring classic invoicing, and that the Xero to Xero link option is not available in New Invoicing. Xero to Xero is an important feature for many of our clients especially in groups where there is intra-group invoicing with many items on an invoice this saves a lot of time! Please add Xero to Xero to new invoicing. I also want to ask if Xero to Xero can please automatically attach the pdf version of the invoice to the bill created in the opposite entity as this does not happen automatically.
4 votesHi Michael, we have an idea for Xero to Xero in new invoicing and want to be open that this isn't something we'll be building into new invoicing however there is still a way to use this feature. You can have a read of my full post on the idea.
In relation to your second idea around auto attaching the PDF of an invoice when it's created as a bill in the recipients organisation. I'll slightly amend your idea for this here and we can get a sense of the appetite for this.

Invoices - Option to convert to bill
It would useful to be able to have an edit function that allows you to change a bill to an invoice and vice versa. As clients tend to confuse these and it takes a lot of steps to copy the information over and delete the mistake.

Invoice Email - Ability to edit "Review and pay" banner
The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

New Invoicing - Add 'attach file' button at payment
Reducing clicks:
When applying a payment to a bill or an invoice, I usually want to attach a source document (image of check, confirmation of our POS system, etc.). Right now I cannot do it while applying the payment. Right now (in 'old' invoicing/bill) I have to instead apply the payment, find myself in the accounts transaction overview, go back to invoice, click on the payment I just applied and then I have to option of uploading/attaching a document. Very inconvenient.7 votes -
New invoicing | Send - show amount owed rather than invoice total
When emailing a sales invoice which has a credit note applied, the basic email template text should quote the amount owed MINUS the amount of the credit note. The email is incorrect with regard to the amount owed, and customers often erroneously overpay.

New Invoicing | Send - Placeholder for reference
The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?3 votes -

New Invoicing - After adding payment, return to the same invoice, not the Sales Overview
Currently after adding a payment, the page goes to the Sales Overview - Invoices. It would be good if (possibly just as an option) it returned to the actual invoice I was adding a payment to.

Xero Projects - Show Supplier Name for un allocated expenses
Currently Unallocated Expenses in Xero projects just show the item line description Which can make assigning to an estimated expense difficult especially when you have "Delivery Charges" I propose a change so that once an expense is allocated to a project and falls into the unassigned it shows the name of the supplier

Inventory - Shipping in Inventory cost price
When I order Goods for inventory the cost of shipping is charged by the seller to me and itemised on the bill. From my perspective, this forms part of the cost of the products purchased on the same bill.
The COST price ought include specifically the shipping on inwards inventory (averaged over all the items on a bill) to calculate the cost price when the items are entered on inventory items. How I do it today : I make a complex calculation of all overheads including shipping which is manually added to the cost price plus profit margin to make…

Inventory - Buy and sell in different units of measure
It is extremely common when re-selling goods, that a purchase of inventory is made in one unit of quantity, but when sold a smaller unit of quantity is used.
For example, you might purchase 1 whole box of something containing say 10 units, but sell the units in the contained units. For example, I buy plastic filament by the roll, containing a qty of N Kg, but when its placed on a customer invoice or quote, the qty is in grams. I buy by the Kg, and Sell by the gram. But others might buy ONE box of screws containing…3 votes -
Bank statement PDF
On organizations you have using bank feeds, a pdf of the bank statement should pop up in Xero once the bank publishes them. QBO has this feature so easy to look at a bank statement while reconciling the account and will also show pictures of the cleared checks.

Quotes - Line numbers for items in quotes
Not being able to enter an item # in quotes: This is a bad flaw in your software for people selling services and should be fixed. I People doing custom project services will not want to create new "products" every time they do a custom quote, they just want to add Item 1, 2, 3 and start typing work description

NZ tax- Student Loan overseas borrower repayments
Overseas Borrower Student Loan repayments have different payment dates (30 September and 31 March), there is currently no functionality within Xero Tax (NZ) to manage these payments. I understand it is not possible for the system to calculate the repayment amounts as these are determined based on the loan balance, but if there could be an override amount like for Provisional Tax that would be useful, instead of having to track these borrowers manually.

Bills - Feature for Recipient-Created Tax Invoices (RCTI)
Recipient-Created Tax Invoices (RCTI) are a normal thing in some industries. Xero is not set up to create them; instead we have to do a workaround with purchase orders.
I'd like to not have to use the workaround.
The workaround consists of:
- creating RCTI branding themes
- creating a purchase order for each entity needing RCTIs
- edit that purchase order with the new details every time creation of an RCTI is needed (so in labour hire this can be every week for each contractor)
- send the purchase order to the entity needing the RCTI (editing the email…10 votes -
Billable expense - Resize description column in allocation screen
We use the Billable Expense function on Xero. However, we find it impractical when it comes to allocating the billable expenses. This is because we are unable to see the full description of the expense in the allocation pop-up screen and this results in incorrect allocations.
If the description column can be dragged to resize it, or include a scroll function, then incorrect allocations can be avoided.

AU - Manually edit AU GST on transactions
In Australia, users need to be able to manually edit the amount of GST paid on a transaction. This is required because certain transactions (particularly grocery and pharmacy transactions) have a mixture of items, some of which have GST applied, and some that do not. Unfortunately, the receipts for these types of transactions do not indicate which specific items have incurred GST - they just have a total amount of GST paid on that receipt. As such, it would be great if users could just override the total amount of GST paid for those receipts. See attached for an example…
