To be able to see both opening and closing balance in the General Ledger Detailed report.
Purpose: Opening and Closing balance will make users easily analyse their transactions.
42 votesThanks to everyone, that got in to have a try of the new General Ledger Summary and Detail reports. I'm pleased to share that this is now live to all and available in Reports centre!
Just a reminder - to add Opening and closing balances click 'More' where you'll see this option. Once added save the report as Custom to access with this format any time. 🙂

Reporting - Duplicate Supplier Bills
Xero will alert if there you are posting a duplicate manual bill but not if the bills are imported. Being able to run a report to show any duplicated supplier invoices that have slipped through the net would be amazing.
2 votesThanks for confirming, Kayleigh 🙂 In this case you should find the Payable Invoice Summary report which you could either Group or Filter for Reference 'contains'. This way you should be able to scroll through your invoice within the date range and quickly pick up where there is more than one bill entered wit the same reference.
I've attached an image from our demo co. for reference on filtering

Account Transactions report - Filter by Account type
When producing an Account Transactions report, it would be helpful if we were able to filter by type (e.g. only P&L items, or only Balance Sheet items, or codes within a certain/custom range). At present, we have to select or deselect on sometimes a rather long list of accounts.
9 votesThis is possible with filters in the newer version of the Account transactions report!
You'll see Account Type as an option from Filters through which you can select which ones you'd like to make visible in your report.
You can even go a step further and group by Account Type if that's a better view for you, too.😁

Bills - order by due date in mobile app
Bills - order by due date in mobile app
1 voteHey Sean - thanks for sharing your idea - Good news! |'ve confirmed with the team that bills should display in order of due date in the app, and double checked that in a demo organisation (see attached).
As it's already available, I'll close out this idea😊

profit and loss mobile
Enable the ability to generate a Profit and Loss report on the mobile phone app
1 voteHey Matthew, thanks for sharing your idea!
We've rolled out some recent changes to the Xero Accounting App, that make the Profit and loss report more consistent with the desktop version, including more accessible date filters and region specific terminology. This replaces the old 'Profit' report that you access through your Xero App dashboard 😊

BAS | Activity Statement report - Ability to type custom date range
When looking for BAS transactions for your own date range under the activity statement report section, currently there are limited view period options, meaning that you have to select the dates in a calendar. Being able to type a custom date range is not an option.
It would be a lot more efficient to be able to type a custom date range as can be done with other reports.3 votesHi Community 👋
Thanks to everyone that has added their vote to this idea. We’ve just rolled out a change to Activity Statements, allowing you generate a BAS report for custom date ranges.
To check this out yourself, you can click ‘View custom date report’ in the Activity Statement page.
For more information on this change, check out our ‘View BAS reports for a custom period’ support article.

Analytics | Short term cashflow - Remove BAS & PAYG Payments
When a BAS payment is due it shows up in Analytics Plus on the due date. However when the bas or payg payment is paid early there is no way to remove it from the cashflow and it skews the cash flow workings. Can we create a way to remove these system populated entries when they are no longer correct.
4 votesHi all, we've just released an update to Short term cashflow(STCF) so you can now exclude individual BAS/PAYGW amounts from your orgs projection breakdown, when the due date falls within the selected date range of the STCF.
You can always add back any excluded amounts to the projection at a later date. 🙂

GL report - Include tracking categories
General ledger reports include tracking categories
5 votesHi team, as previously noted although not in the General Ledger specifically it is possible to get this information running the Account Transactions report in Xero, this can then be exported if you'd like to make use outside of Xero.
We'll mark this idea delivered with the option above, if there's particular reason you need this detail in the General Ledger welcome to add this idea back in the forums and please detail your needs to be considered.

Files - Move the Upload File option to the top of the page
Please add the upload files / upload from library feature to the top of the list, I add my statements to my suppliers each month and have to scroll all the way down through years of documents to get to the upload feature.
1 voteHey! This function has changed and the 'Upload file' button is now toward the top of the screen 🥳

Reports - Ability to sort new general ledger detail report by account code
in previous general ledger summary report you were bale to sort the general ledger by account code so the profit and loss and balance sheet items were grouped together in the excel report. Please can you implement this feature to the new general ledger detail report
1 voteHey Matthew, thanks for sharing this idea - this is actually already possible in the General Ledger detail report!
From the 'Grouping/Summarising' drop down menu, you can select 'Group by Account Code and Name' to organise the transactions by Account Code.
I've also included a screenshot of where to find this option 😊

Xero mobile app | Bank Reconciliation - Option to skip a statement line
On mobile app add option to skip an unreconciled bank transaction (eg if there is a query) so that other items can still be reconciled
2 votesHey Roger, just a quick update to let you know we've updated our reconciliation experience on the Xero App.
You'll no longer be presented with one transaction at a time, and instead will have the option to skip transactions, and return to them at a later time. For a preview of this new reconciliation experience, I've uploaded a screenshot 📸

Bank Reconciliation report - Show page numbers on the bottom corner of each page
Have the page number at the bottom corner of the Bank Reconciliation Summary, Bank Statement & Statement Exceptions
2 votesHey community, thanks to everyone that shared their feedback on this idea!
This is now live for all reports, including the Bank Reconciliation reports 🎉
You’ll now see a page number when exporting any report to a .pdf.Previously, it was only possible to add page number to Advisor reports.
I’ve attached a screenshot with an example of this in action, but for more information, check out our Export and print a report Xero Central article.

Profit & Loss - Show Invoice Numbers
Currently there is no functionality in Xero to populate the invoice number in the Profit and Loss report while the reference field is filled out. Would like to have the invoice number to be shown as well for easy reference and checking.
3 votesHi team, as noted in my last update you can click on the figure in the Profit & Loss which drills down to the Account Transactions report.
You'll find that you can adjust the report settings to add 'Invoice Number' as a column so you can see both pieces of information on the report.

MFA and Yodlee Feeds
The issue with MFA in some banks blocking yodlee's transaction feed negates the benefit of it in the first place. You want a secure way to receive the transaction data without having someone with signing privileges (a senior exec) log in each time a bookkeeper is trying to do their work. If Xero built an easy API or a other solution that we could send to our banks and put pressure on them to build into their system I'm sure you would get a ton of buy in from the accounting community. QBO feeds have gone directly to banks with…
1 voteHey Win, thanks for sharing your idea!
Xero already offers an API for banking institutions to create direct feeds in to Xero, and you can read a little more about it in our blog post Xero opens banks feeds, paving the way for faster platform growth.
For a tech-y overview, you can share this Xero Bank Feeds API overview page with your financial institute.

Dividend Voucher Report
Bring back Dividend Voucher creation.
Dividend payments are almost mandatory for small business to be tax efficient and operational.
It used to be a feature but was removed, which is a shame because now i have to manage yet another document.
Other packages offer this basic functionality.2 votesHi Calem, the Dividend Voucher report is available to users that are part of a UK based Practice and has not been removed - If you're a part of a UK Xero Practice and don't see this in the Adviser tab, perhaps a user in the practice has accidentally removed it.
It'll be easy enough to add back though. If you have the edit report templates permission on Xero HQ, just click New Template > Copy From where the report will be available to select from the Xero Templates list 🙂

Aged payable reports - Set default for updated settings
Xero aged payables- the old reports were much clearer and useful.
We would like to be able to set the report so we can have the dates along the top and invoice date rather than having to go in every time and have to manually change it. It has become quite laborious.1 voteHi BNNL, once you've set up the report with the settings as you like you can save as custom to access with this same layout anytime. You can go a step further to make this the default if it's the layout you'd like everyone in the org to use too.

Reporting - Unallocated Prepayment Report
Ability to see a report where it shows the prepayment that is yet to be allocated to invoices.
Purpose: To easily see the figure of the unallocated prepayment.
27 votesAppreciate the support here, and thanks for your feedback on being able to view a report that shows prepayments that you've recorded for contacts in Xero.
Our reporting teams have been making many developments to enhance Xero's newer style reports, and added Prepayments to both the Payable and Receivable Invoice Summary and Details reports.
- For unallocated prepayments amounts only, add a 'Source' filter for Prepayments, and a Status filter of 'Approved' (when all credit of a Prepayment's been allocated it will show a status of 'Paid')
If you'd like to have your formatted report on hand any time, save it as custom - You could even go as far as making this the default. 🙂

Sales day book
I need a report that simply lists all sales invoices by date, customer and total amount. It would look very similar to the invoice data that shows up when you go from the dashboard to Business - Invoices. The only way to export this data is limited to 500 transactions. Thats no good to me as Ive got 1000+ sales items a month. This would be one of the most easiest reports for Xero to create and give more joy to your users than you can imagine. But I cant see that its ever been created. Please help. Call it…
3 votesHi Geoff, you can use the Receivable Invoice details report to view he information as you're asking here.
You'd set the Date range you're wanting to view, group by Contact and then can sort results by date once you've run the report.
When set up save as custom so you can rename and easily access the report anytime you need.

CIS - Annual CIS Statements for sub-contractors
Be able to pull off an annual statement showing each monthly CIS return by sub-contractor for them to pass to their accountants/bookkeepers at the year end, rather than them coming back to you with a list of missing months that you know you sent out in the batch but they have lost or went into their junk mail
13 votesHi everyone, coming back round to your idea - this is now possible with the CIS Contractor report and entering a custom date range.
Go to the All CIS transactions tab, and in the date picker you'll be able to select 'Custom' and then run the report for the year.
All functionality that was included in the CIS Payment and Deduction Statements report is now in the CIS Contractor (Monthly Return, Online Filing and Statements) report, including the ability to generate statements for custom date ranges. 🙂
