    Hi everyone, just a quick update to let you know that we are aware of this request, and we get that having a direct bank feed for Chase Bank UK would streamline your workflow and make reconciling much easier.

    Currently, the best way to get your transactions into Xero is by manually importing your bank statements.

    For now, we’ll keep an eye on the engagement and support for this bank feed here, and let you know when we have any updates on this. 

  3. That would be great to make the Contact group field visible on the Bills to Pay screen to let us filter to certain contact groups when we are preparing a payment file.

    We use the contact groups for example to mark suppliers that are paid by Direct Debit, so this would be a useful feature to filter them out and do not pick their invoices up for a BACS payment.

  4. 1st) I suggest on embedding the Validated QR code to the normal PDF invoice so that we can print multiple invoices at one go and our normal PDF invoice also consists of banking details and credit terms whereas the Validated E-Invoicing has none of these.

    2nd) I suggest on putting "Send to MyInvois" button instead of copy and paste the e-mail MyInvois@invoi.ci for every invoice. This is too troublesome.

    3rd) Regarding the Invoice interface on the Sent Column, perhaps can Xero make it into two instead? One is for the Validated E-Invoicing & the other one is for customer. The…

  5. Instead of referring to reconcile transactions, it would be better to refer to categorise or allocate transactions.

    Bank transactions are categorised - we tell Xero what each transaction is for - answers "What was this for?" However at present this is called Reconcile transactions

    Reconciling an Account - is matching the above transactions to the bank's records (statement) - checking that every transaction in Xero matches what actually happened in the bank account and the end balance matches.

    The terminology seems to confuse some and they think by categorising/allocating a transaction they have reconciled the account.

    Thanks for your feedback and for pointing out how the term "Reconcile" can be confusing—especially for those new to Xero or bookkeeping.

    We get that using clearer terms like "Categorise" or "Allocate" might feel more intuitive and help reduce confusion when working through bank reconciliation.

    Right now, this idea’s open for feedback and support, so feel free to keep voting and sharing how a change like this could help in your day-to-day.

  6. This is a known issue that needs to be voted on to be prioritized.

    The Auto Sales Tax feature in Xero (from Avalara) disallows the ability to use Find and Recode. This is a huge limitation that will have massive repercussions as time goes on. Please fix this promptly.

  7. This is a known issue that needs to be voted on to be prioritized.

  8. We need to be able to select "All Dates" on a report. ex. I want to see a report for a certain account from the start of my business to the current date. now I need to select beginning date and then todays date and the update.

    Thanks for sharing this great idea for improving efficiency in reports.

    For anyone looking to achieve this now, you can view transactions across all time by selecting a custom date range in your reports. By setting the start date to your organisation's first transaction date and the end date to today, you can get a full historical view of your data.

    We see the value in your suggestion to add a preset 'All Time' or 'All Dates' option, which would make this process a faster, one-click action.

  9. In NZ we are required by law to keep 7 years of records for the IRD (tax department). I make a point of destroying old financial records that are older than 7 years. Xero doesn't have a mechanism to purge old data. I see in my Xero I full record including invoices, supplier invoices and financial data back to Jan 2014.

    I would like to see a system whereby old data was completely wiped, and summary starting figures created for the purged data period, say as at the start of each tax year, for me 1 April 2018 so that…

    Appreciate why you'd like to remove older data from your org after a long period, Steven. Generally we don't want to be touching our customers data, and this isn't something we have plans for implementing. However, we'll get a sense of the interest from others in this here, for our product teams to consider.

    Right now, if you'd like to remove older data there are a couple of options;

    • You could start a new organisation from the date you'd like to keep records from, setting up the organisation with conversion balances from that date. You could also export and import information from the old org to the new one.
    • Change the conversion balances in your existing org and remove older data prior to this date
  10. Hi, it would be amazing to have the ability to delete certain line items to create custom reports (eg - Profit and Loss). I currently need to export the full report into excel and manually delete the lines, but would be nice to have the option to do this in Xero custom reports

    currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.

    I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by

    1. showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
    2. OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)

    Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.

    We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.

    Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

  12. Need to ability to limit the list of accounts for each user and then allow the approver to have access to all chart of accounts to re-assign the expense.
    Staff don't understand accounts requirements to be able to choose the correct account.

    Hi community, thanks for supporting this idea for Xero Expenses.

    While there isn't currently a way to limit the Chart of Accounts for individual users, there is a way to shorten the list of accounts for all staff who submit expenses - you can find out more about this on Xero Central.

    This may help streamline your processes, while this idea is still open for support from other community members.

  13. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows partners to fill out and submit a Partnership Tax Return (PTR) without being a registered tax agent or accountant. However, TPR is currently only available in Xero Tax, which is a professional tax preparation software package designed specifically (and only) for registered tax agents and accountants.

    Can I request that (like BAS and TPAR) the PTR report and lodgement features be made available in the base Xero software?

  14. Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
    It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return. It is crucial to be able to print or email statements to multiple or all contacts with received money transactions at once showing each received money transaction for the contact in a time period on individual/separate pages by contact. This is really needed functionality because any nonprofit entity needs to send giving/donation statements at year end. I have tried multiple reports and statements. I can create an Account Transactions report showing all the clients and the received money entries, but it doesn't allow me to separate contact on their own page.     I am a regular user of the Xero Cloud Portal and appreciate the platform's intuitive features for managing business finances.

    However, I am currently facing a challenge when reconciling bank transactions. I frequently receive bulk deposits that are made up of a large number of small invoices—often exceeding 100. Unfortunately, Xero's current system limits me to matching only up to 100 invoices against a single deposit. This creates a significant bottleneck in my reconciliation process and affects my workflow efficiency.

  20. It would be good if on the taxable payments annual report, when it shows that the ABN has been 'provided' that this is also linked whether the ABN status is GST registered or not. This would be an easy checking tool that the GST charges has been properly done so and would make the person lodging the form to easily identify whether or not GST should be charged or not.
