  1. Xero doesn't have a built-in option to directly integrate with or automatically use Gmail for sending W-9 requests. That would be really helpful ~

    It sounds like you're referring to the Request W-9 window, Reuben? You should be able to set up Gmail as your default email app on the device you're using. If this isn't opening Gmail by default you may want to check your device's settings.

  2. Can I also please say, how frustrating it is that you can not now attach a file to a contact from the file library. This is how we have always attached our end of month creditor statements, that are emails to us, we have always forwarded these directly the file library, re name as required and then attach to the contact from the file library when completing the checking process for each creditor. This now will mean that statements can not be forwarded directly from the creditor email but will have to now be saved into a PC desktop file…

    Hi team, we've now released the ability to upload files directly from your computer to a contacts record! As noted in our last update, you'll find;

    • The file library uploader option is now back on the Files tab of the Contact overview
    • We display all files (including previously attached ones) allowing you to attach a file to multiple documents (e.g. Contact, Invoices…)
    • We've enabled the ability to add multiple files from file library in one go

  3. Contacts due dates to be set as a standard company wide setting unless changed within the individual contact.

    For example as a company we work on the basis that all payments and receipts are due 30 days from invoice, this should be able to be entered within the company settings and should already be filled in when creating a new contact.

  4. It would be great to use email address as address in an invoice as often clients only provide an email as contact.
    i.e no delivery address.

    Hi Marcel, with the standard invoice template this will show the billing address on the PDF of the invoice. If you don't have a physical address for the contact and want to include the email address, enter and save this in the billing address details on the contact. You can either do this from their contact record or on the fly when creating the invoice. here's an example I created of how this will appear.

  5. W9 link for contractors to enter information needs to be extended beyond 7 days. In addition it should be a generic link that can be sent to multiple people.

  6. We are seeing more emails that are sent from within Xero being flagged as Spam or put in Quarantine, especially if the recipient is using Outlook 365.

    Xero need to implement DKIM to reduce the number of false positives like this. It's very easy to implement and the benefits to Xero users would be enormous.

    Thanks all for you feedback on comments on this thread. We want to confirm that that DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is currently active for all Xero sending mail addresses used by the Xero platform and are regularly reviewed and updated. Since Xero handles the sending of emails from our platform there is nothing to be done from your side and can be assured that their is no risk to deliverability of emails as a result of the changes. Since there is no visibility of this change in the Xero UI we suggest those who still want further confirmation to review the Global DNS Propagation Checker which confirms that DKIM is enabled for all our regions. The best option if you're still finding mail sent from Xero isn't getting to a recipient or is landing in their spam or junk folders is to ask the customer to whitelist @xero.com and @post.xero.com…

    Hi everyone, we've released a new 'Tax Details' section for US customers in Contacts that allows you to request W-9s from a contact you've set up in Xero. From this section you'll also be able to see a contacts W-9 status and manually update this if needed.

    We've also added additional fields for 'Name on the income tax return' (previously 'Legal name') and 'Business or disregarded entity name' in Contacts to match the 1099 W-9 Management space.

  8. Update new Invoicing to allow sending invoices to contact groups as you can in the classic invoicing. It's ridiculous that something so useful has been left behind in the switch to the new style. I need to be able to amend the invoices I send out based on the individual needs of the group. It saves so much time to be able to create a default set of drafts that I can amend rather than having to go to each individual and create an individual invoice within that group. Please guys, piull this across!

    Thanks for getting involved and sharing your interest for contact group invoicing, everyone. Our latest updated for new invoicing means you can now create a new invoice for a contact group! 😊

    If you've still be using classic invoicing, switch to the new version first through the banner at the top, or link at the bottom of any invoice.

    Next time, you create an invoice for a Contact group you'll be taken to enter the details for your group invoice, in new invoicing. We appreciate all your input and feedback through the idea here.

  9. When sending an invoice to a new customer using the new invoicing you can only add one address line before the Town/City field. With the old invoicing you could add multiple address lines before the Town/City field (as you can also do with their Contact page and clicking edit).
    With new invoicing this is difficult. Every time you need to add an address to a new invoice going to a new contact within the invoice screen then you only have one address line above the town/city field.

    Hi team, we’ve made and released some recent enhancements to the ‘Contact’ field and contact card within new invoicing.

    Hearing your feedback here, we added more address lines to the contact card within new invoicing so you can add your full customer’s delivery or billing address on the fly. You’ll also see you can quickly look up and select addresses for your contact, as well as edit or add the Attention to without needing to go to the contact record.     Hi Nicholas, it doesn't look like you've been in touch with our specialists at Xero Support before?

    While you'll need to raise a case through Xero Central, if you feel a call would best help to resolve your question let the team know and they are usually happy to arrange this at a time that suits you.

    Having your support interactions recorded through your My Cases on Xero Central means you can always look back at your correspondence with the team at a later date, which can be quite handy if you ever run into the same scenario again. It also allows you to share or set up screen meets with the team to get better detail of any issues, and the team can share links to resources that you can access anytime.

  12. Allocate Contact Groups from Contact Page

    At the moment you have to go into each individual contact to allocate a group, it would be beneficial to be able to allocate the group from the contact page.

    You can add contacts to groups from the main Contact list page, Jane 😊

    Simply select the contacts you'd like to add to a group then click the Add to group option on the left header.

  13. Hi xero team, all my friends are recommended to use Xero for my small buisiness, its so easy to ure and so on, but i found so hard to established. i still couldn't able to link my bank account. this message comes up when i tried to link, see in the attached files.

    Hi everyone, we've released a new experience when sending with new invoicing in Xero. You'll find with the side-by-side view along with being able to cc and Bcc others in the email you have the ability to also insert emojis into the email. 🎉

    The preview on the right will show you how these ill appear when sent to the customer. 😁

  15. When you invoice a new customer you get the option of "Add address" which is great to quick add their email address and postal address. Can this also include adding the phone number? Currently the only way to add the phone number is to go into contacts and add it that way but to me it is a much more important detail than postal address. If I need to chase up anything to do with the invoice i don't send the customer a letter, i call them so i do need to input their phone number and just want a…

    Hi team, this is now possible. Within new invoicing you'll find we've enhanced the contact card that allows you to add or edit contact details on the fly. From this card you can now add or edit the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery address, and Phone number. 🙂

  16. You can now create a contact from an invoice. Great, this was overdue.
    Why stop at only allowing some of the details though? Weird.
    Now I have to go back into the contact and edit it to add Company name etc.
    It's just creating more work when I could have done everything from the one spot.
    Please fix!

    Sorry for not updating you here sooner, team. We've been making a lot of changes within new invoicing. One of these being enabling you to enter more contact details from the new invoicing screen, without having to navigate away.

    You'll find you can now enter the contact name, email, billing address, delivery address, and phone all from the contact card within a new invoice. These details will be reflected without the need to refresh the screen 🙂

  17. If Xero or a partner organisation should encounter issues which may lead to data integrity issues, we should receive an email alert or some kind of notification.
    e.g. issues with Bank Feeds whereby there are duplicate or missing transactions. This has occurred a few times and we have only discovered, retrospectively, about the issue.

    We don't use Xero each day and certainly don't visit the Status page every day, such issues may well not come to light... by the time we visit the Status page a problem is quite likely to have been resolved and the status shows as OK,…

    Hey team 👋 We're thrilled to announce a change that we've made that addresses your idea here. We've added notices for bank feed disruptions directly on the Bank Accounts widget on your Xero Dashboard!

    If there's a known issue, we'll tell you about it right then and there, allowing you to plan your day accordingly and know when to be extra vigilant with your reconciliation. We're also considering expanding this feature to include a wider range of real-time disruption alerts in the future.

  18. If I'm looking at the "Financial Details" tab for a contact, when I click the "Edit" button, I should be taken to the "Financial details" section of the "Edit contact" page. Currently, it takes me to the first section, which happens to be "Contact details".

    Hi everyone, coming back over the idea here this idea has now been implemented with other changes in Contacts. 

    Now, when you select to edit a contact from Financial details tab you'll automatically be directed to the Financial details section when the edit screen opens. 🎉

  19. When you view a contact, you are able to see outstanding invoices and quotations from this contact. But it will be helpful to see quotations that have been accepted by this contact to make invoicing easier.

    Hi community, sorry we've not looped into this idea sooner. You'll now find with new invoicing that you can add a new contact and their details, or edit a contacts details without having to leave the page. 

    When you add a new contact, this'll open the modal for the Contact card and from here you can add the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery addresses, and or phone number.
