    My workaround in the end was to start each Xero Item Code with a prefix for the product category. eg/ TEE_SHIRT_01 - where TEE is the category and the Item Code is SHIRT_01 .

    Inventory Grouping is a great idea! Similar concept to Grouping Contacts.
