Thanks for your feedback on Single Sign-On(SSO). We last updated this idea in October 2025, and we’re sorry it’s taken some time for us to provide another. We will do our best to keep you more informed of progress as it continues.
Where SSO is today
We’ve built an SSO capability for accountant and bookkeeper partner practices using OpenID Connect (OIDC). We ran a closed beta with a small group of partners, which is now complete, and those partners are connected. We’re still confirming how and when other accounting and bookkeeping partners can access it. SSO isn’t currently available to businesses or IT providers. We’ll share access details in a future update once they’re confirmed.
What we’re looking at next
We’re exploring what it would take to offer SSO to small businesses. Business needs differ from accountant and bookkeeper partners’, so we’re looking at:

Recall many only voting here because you previously closed the highly voted submission requesting generic third-party SSO years ago.

No, we don't want Azure integration, we want generic SAML that works with any ID provider. But you've closed that idea, even though it is the solution to SSO.

Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support this idea. Make sure you share it with any colleagues that this could benefit, so they can add their vote too!
In the meantime, you might like to use Xero's own authenticator app, Xero Verify, which does support push notifications when you log in.

SSO is recognised as a critical aspect of modern business security.
Our business uses Jumpcloud as it's secure IdP provider. Xero should support Jumpcloud as the authentication provider for Xero user logins. Jumpcloud supports generic SAML connections and supports MFA using their dedicated mobile device push app, or also OTP if necessary. A dedicated Jumpcloud integration could perhaps enforce/require MFA if this is an issue for third party IdP providers.

I think it's unfair to criticise Xero here, it's only been asked for for 12 YEARS. Well, ok, actually a few more years than that, because there was another SSO idea on here before that which they said they wouldn't do and closed it. Clearly though Xero just had the foresight to see that soon AI was coming and some guy on his own would be able to replicate Xero with Claude Code in a few days, but with SSO, so what's the point of spending ages developing features when you should just milk what you have while you can? This will be my last comment on this issue, I think my 12-15 year journey of following progress on SSO at Xero is coming to an end and I'm going to try and unsubscribe from updates to this idea. So goodbye fellow SSO hopefuls. Maybe I'll check back in every decade or so to see how the feature is coming along. For those of you still waiting, perhaps just starting out on your Xero SSO journey, I wish you well, and godspeed. Think of the future years you wait for this feature as a type of meditative contemplation, a time when you can consider the nature of hope and how it relates to a world in which some thing remain forever out of reach. You can come to learn the true acceptance of things as they are, and not as you wish them to be. In this case, that thing being logging into your flippin Xero account with SSO.
