Thanks so much for your continued feedback and for casting your votes for automating losses carried forward in Xero Tax NZ. We genuinely appreciate you highlighting the challenges you face with the current process, and understand that manually re-entering these figures is a significant pain point for many of you.
I wanted to let you know that this idea is currently In discovery - Meaning our product team is actively researching and exploring the best ways to address the need for automated loss carry-forwards, including how different loss types behave and how to ensure a seamless flow of data within Xero Tax.
We'll be sure to provide another update as soon as we have more information to share on our progress.🙂

Appreciate the meaning behind this idea to you all.
This is something we'd like to continue to track on the site here, however to upfront in order to generate the barcode there's work that'd need to be done on IRD's end to enable this.
We've reached out to engage them on this, but there is no immediate plans from our end, at this time.

In the 2023 IR4 returns, we would like to have print on the Tax Statement, the Losses Brought Forward. (It was also an issue with the 2023 IR6, but has since been resolved)
I've been told that if there aren't any losses claimed, or there are further losses to add, the BFWD balance won't print.
The balance at the bottom of the Statement to Carry Forward to next year, does print with the correct balance.
