Hey team, we appreciate wanting to upload more employee details when setting them up. While we have recently released an updated process to bulk uploading employees, we want to be upfront that this only allows the bulk upload of basic fields such as names, dates of birth and addresses.

This may be something we consider longer term and we would like to continue to track interest through the idea here.

If there are any plans made we'll share an update with you all on this idea. Thanks

Allow more options with new employee bulk imports. Right now, you can only create a new employee with their personal details, which is fine, however if you have multiple employees to create, you still need to manually go into each profile to update employment and salary details. Having to still manually go through each profile defeats the purpose of the current bulk import because it takes just about as much time.
To have the functionality to also include employment and salary details in a bulk import would save a lot of time and clicks. For us where our HR platform system is not fully connected with Xero, this option would allow us to create a new employee in that system as well as on Xero from one spreadsheet. Streamlining manual processes like these are critical for growing companies.
The fields I would include for example would be: Employment Type, Income Type, Payroll Calendar, Employee Group, Holiday Group, Ordinary Earnings Rate, Pay Template etc...

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on adding employee numbers to employee records.

Currently Xero uses unique identifiers for employees which are included in STP files sent to the ATO, however there’s currently no ability to add employee numbers to employment records.

After reviewing with our product team, this feature isn't currently on our roadmap so we'll update the status to 'Not in Pipeline'. As an alternative, payroll admins can use the Notes section or adapt an existing field in the employees record to assist with identifying employees.

Whilst we understand this may not be the outcome you’d hoped for, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback to help shape Xero.
