Thanks for keeping the conversation going on this, everyone. It's clear that having the ability to create budgets for Balance Sheet accounts is a really popular idea, and we hear the manual workflows you're having to use when it comes to forecasting.
The go-to option for now (as shared by some in this idea) is to export your data into a spreadsheet to build out your budgeted Balance Sheet and cash flow forecasts.
I know it's not the outcome you're hoping for here, but we want to be upfront about where things stand. Right now, building this feature isn't in our plans. We have to make some tough calls on what to build next, and while this isn't on the current roadmap, the feedback you've all shared here is incredibly valuable for our future planning.
Please keep the ideas and feedback coming to show your support for this idea.

Hi Lilly, with Xero expenses you can upload a copy of a receipt and have it auto capture the contents to create an expense through the app - See more on this here
Is there a reason you'd prefer to email receipts to your org over the existing method? Will help when sharing back with the team.

Many services automatically mail your expense to your chosen app/system - eg Uber, Lyft, Stripe etc…
Xero needs to implement this to streamline expense operations. Expensify and others already support this (from 2+ years ago).
Please prioritise this - more automation = less errors = less time on non-critical business tasks
Don’t become a friction point in our businesses. And AI will soon do all this and who cares which system you’re on.

If you want to manage to cash (not P&L), this is critical. We have regular large CapEx spend items that suck the life out of our cash budgeting (and it often comes in different schedules than originally budgeted, etc...).
Why can't we see a cash view which after all is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of managing a small business. Not P&L which is an accounting view - nice and all, but won't stop you failing.
