Hi everyone, thanks for sharing how we can make managing contacts in Xero more efficient. We understand the need to keep your contact list clean and uncluttered, and how being able to fully remove unused or duplicate contacts would help simplify things.
At this stage, permanent deletion of contacts isn’t in the pipeline. That said, your feedback has been shared with our product team as part of ongoing conversations around improving contact management.
For now, you could create a “Deletion Contact” in Xero and merge any unwanted contacts into it before archiving. It’s a quick way to clean up without having to archive each one separately and minimise clutter.
We appreciate your input and your continued partnership as we work to improve the experience, and we’ll keep you posted if there are any updates.

There is a total of 4674 ideas in this forum and another 6106 ideas in For Accountants & Bookkeepers and For small business. For this over 10,000 ideas, I do not know how many have been fixed, but here is one that seems like a quick fix.
I think that this idea is a low hanging fruit that should be implemented quickly, however, I seem to think that Xero's implementation for change request is slow and suspect that there's more people in the team responding to user's feedback than the actual people who should be working on improving the product.
I was directed to this page after making a case to Xero about deleting archived contacts.
I was asked to call in to a Xero support and talk to the Xero support person who then informs me it's due to "audit". Such a simple request requiring a call is surprising.
I do hope Xero listens to its customers and users and fix those low hanging fruit instead of rolling out improvements to a new screen page that does the same functions as the previous one and with less efficiency and the new screen page has navigation clicks on the page scattered all over the screen (i'm thinking of the new Invoice page) and losing the Xero To Xero feature unless you send it in another screen page. -

Hi everyone, thanks for your contributions to this idea. We appreciate your feedback about the challenges in ensuring all billable costs are recovered, and your desire for an improved experience.
As noted by others in the idea, there are some features that will give some visibility of billable expenses at present.
- You can 'View bills not assigned to projects', and
- there is the Outstanding billable expense report as some have shared which shows outstanding items you've assigned as billable to customers
Understanding the value more visibility of unassigned bills would have for customers, this is something we’ll continue to review in future planning but isn’t in the current roadmap. We'll be sure to update you all if this gets picked up.

This is becoming critical and urgent as a result of the phasing out of Pay Run. Posting payroll as a bill or manual journal will result in all users in the system being able to view pay sensitive data.
My suggestion is to keep Contact Employees active and not disable it, and the Organization Settings, Users, "Payroll Admin" to be renamed "Employee Contacts" and the Admin to check or uncheck for each User.
Let subscribes pick and choose on how to use that feature.
Just a point of inconsistent behaviour of Xero, I requested for duplicated and error entries of Supplier and Customer contacts to be deleted permanently, but the request was declined and was informed that all contacts will be Archived in Xero.
HOWEVER WITH THE PHASE OUT OF PAY RUN, ALL CONTACTS "EMPLOYEES" HAVE BEEN DISABLED, NOT EVEN ARCHIVED!
