Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.
However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.
As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.

Sad to see that this was raised 2 years ago now and still not being considered.
The notes function that was mentioned is helpful and all, but we cannot search for the contents of these notes to quickly see who has/hasn't signed up to something or who owns a specific item we need more information for.
The amount of time at month end and beyond that would be saved is what makes this very important for usMay we have an update as to if/when this may be considered? You can add custom fields for reports and orders, so why not for contacts and invoices?

Hey everyone, appreciate that this idea's intent is to help save user's time in calculating the VAT, but I wanted to share that it is possible to record partial VAT exemptions, for those who aren't aware. We will continue to to track interest in this idea but in the meantime you can:
- Calculate your own your partial exemption adjustment amounts
- Enter them as VAT box adjustments on your non-MTD or MTD VAT return
Alternatively, if you use a set percentage adjustment you could do one of the following:
- Add a custom Tax Rate for your % rate.
- Adjust the VAT on each bill to the amount you can claim. Click the + next to the tax rate to do this. (You'll need to use the 'Amounts are' Tax Exclusive option to see it.)
We recommend you talk to your accounting advisor or HMRC if you need more help with this.

Thanks for the added detail, everyone. It's good to be able to share this detail back with our teams.
Appreciate why Bank Rules won't help for cash accounts and where you don't have a bank feed coming into the account.
Being open, this isn't something we have plans for changing in the short-term. We'll leave the idea open for our product team to continue considering how we could improve efficiency in some of the situations you've described. If there are any updates we'll share this with you all here.

This is definitely v frustrating. We have just moved over and the first company I am in needs this to be a feature to save manual work. Importing journals is a large part of the day to day transactions for me so now having to balance them by using a 'holding' account and then transferring this money over in the bank rec is a very peculiar way to do things.
No system I have ever used has this rule? Equally, why can we mark transactions as reconciled manually in the banking screen but actually not reconcile manually via journals in the first place?!

As it has now been over 2 years since the last admin response, could we please have another?
In Mar23 it was said to not be planned in the following 12 months, it has been 29 months, so is there a plan at all to address this?
We have also realised that the 'reference' on the sales invoice isn't actually included on the invoice itself when sent, I am unable to find an option to do this. So the 1 option we had is actually not an option
Now we resort to changing the customer's account number to include multiple bits of info, as that is actually shown on invoices, but makes it look very complicated and unprofessional
