Thanks so much for your continued interest and feedback about how valuable adding a contact to a manual journal would be for you, your business, and clients.
We wanted to share that we’re making good headway in this space. For customers in the US, we’ve now released our new manual journals experience, which lays important foundations for us to build on capabilities like adding contacts to manual journals.
While this specific functionality isn’t available just yet, it's still on the roadmap and is actively being worked through by our product team. We’ll continue to share updates as progress is made.

We are actively looking to migrate away from Xero due to this feature gap. In particular the inability to track revenue accrual by customer means Xero is useless as a data source for much of our reporting that requires accurate by-customer data (churn, CAC, LTV, etc.). By "actively looking," I mean I have started scheduling demos with other vendors.

i don't think Xero understands what a pain point this is. If you amortize prepaids via a manual JE (which we do because the workaround to automate this is awful), none of the vendor names come across. So when I do M2M recon every close, I have to export the subledgers to Excel, manually add a Contact for every blank line, then do a pivot table. Creating a little database with a VLOOKUP makes it somewhat faster, but come on, this should be core functionality.
