Hey everyone 👋 Thanks so much for all the detailed feedback on applying work patterns for part-time employees. We’ve been following the conversation and understand that manually adjusting pay runs for pro-rata entitlements can be a real challenge. It’s clear that having this automated could save time and give you greater peace of mind.
I’m pleased to let you know our product team has reviewed this idea and we’re updating the status to ‘Accepted’. This means that while it’s not on our immediate roadmap, it’s something we see real value in and want to bring into Xero when we can prioritise the work.
In the meantime, the workarounds shared here, like manually adjusting hours in each pay run, remain the best approach. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, as your feedback plays a crucial role in shaping Xero. We’ll keep you updated on any developments…

We have this in the UK with payroll but it does not correctly calculate the hours to pay when unpaid leave is taken or if the beginning/end of the month is a non working day or weekend and there has been a change Xero doesn't pay the employee for the full month. This means we have to do manual adjustments (if we spot it is wrong) See help desk call CX0016738686 - Xero does not calculate the employee pay correctly. Hopefully they are fixing this so it works correctly for you.

Yes please, this is also an issue in the UK. Staff are being paid less than they are due as Xero calculates back from an average monthly hours and takes off the unpaid element first - this is incorrect it should do the paid hours first,

I have worked out how to split out the salary into different departments (create a new earnings pay item and then on the employee information go to custom and change regular earnings to the new one at the bottom of the tab) also the pensions by updating the pay item with a new one then update the pay template with different pay items.
I have been unable to do this with the ERNI so I still have to create a manual journal each month for this. Please can you update this in a similar way so we can allocate the ERNI to different departments

Hi everyone, while not directly from an employee's record it's possible to view an employees payslip without having to download it. If you select Pay employees from the Payroll menu, choose the required pay run you'll be able to click View Reports where you can choose the 'Payslips' option.
From here you can see the payslips for all employees in that pay period.
We don't have direct plans for adding this capability from within an employee's record atm, but we'll track the interest of this here and let you know if any change is planned.

Hello, sorry I am not sure how to reply to your email. If you implement the same update for this as the UK we still have to manually adjust pay runs for part-time employees. So it doesn't work as it should.
This needs fixing in the UK before rolling out to AU. It does not correctly calculate the hours to pay when unpaid leave is taken or if the beginning/end of the month is a non working day or weekend and there has been a change Xero doesn't pay the employee for the full month eg start on 3rd of the month but still have worked a full month's working days, Xero will not pay a full months pay. This is the same if an employee finishes on the last working day of the month but the month end date is a Saturday/Sunday then manual adjustments are still required. This means we have to do manual adjustments (if we spot it is wrong) See help desk call CX0016738686. Feel free to contact me about this.
