Hi everyone, thank you for sharing how the current tracking limits impact your reporting and tracking of different aspects of your business and processes. We know this is an important capability.
We’re exploring how we might tackle the needs in this idea and enhance Tracking Categories for the future.
While we can't commit to developments at this stage, we want you to know we hear the support and feedback from our community on this.
We’ll provide another update as the direction for this feature becomes clearer.

We understand that customising comparison dates in the Profit & Loss report would give you more control over how you view and analyse business performance, especially when you're working with non-standard reporting periods.
Currently in Xero, if you run the P&L for a custom date range (e.g. 1 Jan 2025 to 27 Jan 2025), you can compare that period with the previous:
- Year – shows 1 Jan 2024 to 27 Jan 2024
- Quarter – shows 1 Oct 2024 to 27 Oct 2024
- Custom – automatically sets the comparison period to the same length (in this case, 27 days) immediately before your selected range, so it would show 5 Dec 2024 to 31 Dec 2024
This idea’s now in Gaining Support. If this would be helpful for your workflow, feel free to add a vote or comment to share how you’d use it. Your input helps the team better understand what…

To include an option the standard P&L to compare the same period last year. ie So when you run for part period such as 01/01/2025 - 31/08/2025 you can compare with the 01/01/2024 - 31/08/2024. Can currently do as a custom report but not part of standard
