Thanks so much for taking the time to share this idea and explain how you and your clients are working today. While we can’t comment on specific future changes, we’re actively investing in ways to apply AI and data capture across Xero to help automate more of the manual work in workflows like bills and document handling. Our goal is to use AI where it genuinely adds value for customers – reducing data entry, improving accuracy, and making it easier to manage documents regardless of how they’re brought into Xero. Feedback like yours is really helpful in shaping where we focus those efforts, so we appreciate you highlighting this scenario.

Hi community, it’s been a while since our last update. Just wanted to share a quick status change and keep everyone in the loop.
We’ve updated the idea on bank reconciliation workflows to Gaining support, so it’s easier for the community and the product team to track interest. The idea will stay open for votes and comments, so adding any extra context about your workflow and inviting others to share their experiences can help build a clearer picture of the need.
We’ll let you know if anything changes as the idea progresses.

Make Reconciliation Faster: Add Discuss Tab Toggle
When reconciling bank accounts in Xero, transactions do not display as matched if there is a comment in the Discuss tab. This forces users to manually switch to the Match tab to confirm matches, adding unnecessary steps and slowing down the reconciliation process—especially for accounts with frequent comments.
By default, the Discuss tab is shown for transactions with comments, and matches are not immediately identifiable via the OK button when the Discuss tab is active. This increases time and effort during reconciliation and raises the risk of missed matches.
I propose introducing a toggle in the top-right corner of the reconciliation page that allows users to suppress the Discuss tab. The default behavior would remain the same (Discuss tab visible for transactions with comments), but users could easily turn it off to keep matches visible and quickly confirm via the OK button.
This enhancement would streamline reconciliation, reduce unnecessary clicks, and improve overall usability for businesses that rely on comments but need efficient matching. Please consider implementing this feature to improve the reconciliation workflow for Xero users.
