Hi community, we've made a recent update that we'd love to share and believe may help achieve what you need here.
We've now added a supporting balance column, a new variance and change column.
It'd be great to hear if there is additional that you'd be looking for in this idea.

Hi team, to support a more focused view, we've recently improved the way documents are being added to a pack.
Files previously added to a workpapers pack will now display on a separate tab.

Thanks for popping back to update your idea, Bradley. I've shifted this across to gaining support so we can get a greater ideas of the interest in this here. We'll share if there are any plans made for surfacing an indication to help you identify where a journal is set to rollover.

Appreciate wanting more visibility if a Xero organisation has a locked period, thanks for sharing back on how we can improve new Xero Workpapers for you.
For now our teams are getting a sense of interest in the different opportunities our customers see us being able to develop this new solution for them, we'll continue to keep an eye on this idea and share if there are any updates.

Thanks for sharing your idea for Xero's new Workpapers here, Michelle. There is an existing idea for a Loan Schedule that I've adde your vote to and we'll keep you updated on.
I've made your one here specific to a Hire Purchase workpaper. We don't have direct plans of this atm, but we'll share if there are any updates.

Hi everyone, thanks for the additional feedback we’ve received on this idea.
We understand that workpaper packs may sometimes need to be updated when the wrong financial year, dates, accounting method, template, or staff assignments are selected.
Earlier this year, we released the ability to edit pack settings, helping teams make these necessary changes without starting again. Template updates can also be applied to existing packs by refreshing them.
We recognise that there are cases where a pack may have been created for the wrong client or needs to be removed entirely. We’ll continue using your feedback to understand where deletion would provide the most valuable outcome, while also considering how we mgiht cater in the event a pack is accidentally deleted.
I’ll share any further updates here.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea 🙂
We can see the value in this, managing inter-entity loans more easily across entities in Workpapers, especially where you’re trying to match balances and reduce manual cross-checking. We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so others can vote and add their use cases too. The more detail you can share about how you’d use this in practice, the easier it is for our team to understand the impact and prioritise future improvements.
This is something that’s on our radar, but we don’t have a timeframe to share right now. We’ll continue to monitor the feedback here and will update this thread if there’s more to share.

I think that's a start - but once you have actual workpapers - div 7a, gst, loan amortisation - that supporting balance should be linked to the workpaper itself so it automatically populates and ticks or crosses whether it reconciles or not.
Without the workpapers we're still providing our own workpapers - currently this new workpaper system is really just an index - it's not workpapers.
