  1. In the “In Progress” tab, it would be helpful to have the ability to see all queries directly on the screen, instead of needing to click the icon each time. It would also be useful to be able to export all queries by type.

  2. In new workpapers there is no ability to see which "notes" (Client Query, Review Point) has been resolved 😭

  3. Those workpapers were available in the old version but are no longer included in the new one. I found them quite useful, and they allowed adjustment journals to be posted directly within the workpaper. Now everything has to be done manually.

  5. Need the loan workpapers to be able to reconcile the loans - opening/closing balances, payments, interest, drawdowns/repayments etc - no ability to do this at all in the new workpapers

  6. Allow each reviewer to approve line items. There are now three people that can be assigned to a workpaper but they all share the same 'status dropdown'.

    We need to be able to see the preparer, reviewer and final review separately.

  9. Our firm uses the snipping tool to snip in the source documents/balances. It would be fantastic if you could copy and paste into the new workpapers (without having to save and upload).

  10. When a document is uploaded then removed from a workpaper, it stays in the background when "Attach document" is selected. We need to be able to delete these if it was added by mistake or outdated.

  11. Workpapers by default calculates negative tax when there is a loss. This is wrong.

  12. After I paste the URL on the Attach URL screen, I want to click Enter.

    My hands are on the keyboard. I don't want to have to move them to the mouse.

    In original Workpapers if I pasted URL, tab Type the title and clicked Enter, it would Add link.

  13. Currently all values show as $. Working papers needs to reflect the currency used in Xero. Be that ZAR, GBP etc

  14. Currently it defaults to In Progress and I can't seem to change that? At least in Old Workpapers we had On Hold, which we used if there were queries with the client and the job was stalled. And Done, when it was out for signing and waiting for the workpapers to be signed off. It would be really handy to a) be able to customise the Status, and then b) change it.

    Also I tried the Notify feature and that didn't update Status to Ready for Review either
    Otherwise looking at my client view of all workpapers in progress, we…

  15. Currently when an individual set of workpapers are marked as Completed, they can be then changed by a Preparer without it alerting the reviewer that the Workpaper is now not reviewed for that change.

    Once a workpaper is marked as completed, if any change occurs after this, it should be changed to In Progress immediately automatically (similar to how it changes from Not Started to In Progress). This would prevent that Workpaper from being changed without the reviewer being alerted.

    I would have deep concerns about knowing all Workpaper integrity has been maintained without this feature or a feature like…

  16. We are experiencing a significant workflow issue with the layout and functionality of A1 – Financial Statements & Tax Return in the new Xero Workpapers.

    How We Used This Section in the Previous Workpaper Pack

    In the previous version, this section functioned as our final review and sign-off hub. It included structured default notes such as:

    Financial Statements

    Company/Trust Tax Return

    Individual Tax Returns

    Final Email to Client

    This setup allowed us to:

    Upload final versions of each document

    Review each document individually

    Add review notes directly against that specific document

    Tick off and approve each item only once it…

  17. Prefer to have one set of workpapers completed in a single software. Within Xero workpapers have ability to attach excel template to specific workpapers for completion eg live stock workpaper, overdrawn current account, hire purchase workpaper, etc.
    The most important workpapers have calculations that are required outside of verifying an account balance. Eg those mentioned above.
    If unable to have all workpapers in one place, it's easier to stay with current excel pack.

  18. Despite the fact I raised this years ago, it was ignored when building the new Workpapers (ironically, this workpaper is one of the few that mimics the original Workpapers layout).

    The Income Tax workpaper (attached):
    a. correctly shows 4 x current year PAYG Instalments in the 2025 Tax to pay/(refund) section
    b. correctly shows the prior year June PAYG Instalment in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section
    c. incorrectly automatically includes the current year June PAYG Instalment (copied from the section above), in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section

    99.99% of the time, the prior year June…

  19. When documents are attached to line items, could they please also show in the Supporting documents section? Currently, they only appear again if you click the line item.

    For example, on the Bank Reconciliation workpaper, a statement has been attached to each bank account line, but when the workpaper is opened again, you only know something is attached due to the icon under Actions. You have to click on the line item for the supporting document to appear below (which isn't intuitive).

    Everything attached should show in the Supporting documents section, as per the old Workpapers.

  20. When amending the Workpaper templates, it would be useful to be able to "edit" the checklist items without having to delete them and reset them.

    It would be useful to be able to set the order of the checklists rather than defaulting to alphabetical.

    It would be useful to be able to prepare a personalised checklist in this space as well.

    We tend to tweak items from time to time. NOT reset them.

    If this can be included as an individual feature as well that would be good. As some clients do not require these items to be done.
