It’s critical that Xero includes a dedicated reporting component for Portable LSL (Long Service Leave) reporting because of compliance, financial accuracy, and workforce coverage requirements — especially when submitting the 1.7% surcharge to the relevant LSL Corporation. Employers must report elgible workers, declare eligible wages, pay the levey 1.7% of ordinary wages, submit reports quarterly. Xero cannot generalte compliant reports. This requires manual calculations increased error risks, feasibility of underpayments or overpayment which may occur, The business risks penalities, interest, or audits. A report component ensures correct calculations, assesses eligibility based on ordinary earings only, reconciliation against payroll & is audit ready. Without a structured reporting feature payroll data may not separate LSL eligible wages, adjustments & backpays may be missed, & historic reporting becomes difficult. A dedicated report allows automatic calculations of 1.7%, Clear mapping of wage categories, proper accrual tracking which protects business forecasting and prevents unexpected liabilities. Coverage must include all eligible workers full-time, part-time and casual employees. Ignoring casuals creates legal exposure. Any variable hours of all employees, the ability to report new & terminated staff during the reporting period.
