It’s critical that Xero includes a dedicated reporting component for Portable LSL (Long Service Leave) reporting because of compliance, financial accuracy, and workforce coverage requirements — especially when submitting the 1.7% surcharge to the relevant LSL Corporation. Employers must report elgible workers, declare eligible wages, pay the levey 1.7% of ordinary wages, submit reports quarterly. Xero cannot generalte compliant reports. This requires manual calculations increased error risks, feasibility of underpayments or overpayment which may occur, The business risks penalities, interest, or audits. A report component ensures correct calculations, assesses eligibility based on ordinary earings only, reconciliation against payroll & is audit ready. Without a structured reporting feature payroll data may not separate LSL eligible wages, adjustments & backpays may be missed, & historic reporting becomes difficult. A dedicated report allows automatic calculations of 1.7%, Clear mapping of wage categories, proper accrual tracking which protects business forecasting and prevents unexpected liabilities. Coverage must include all eligible workers full-time, part-time and casual employees. Ignoring casuals creates legal exposure. Any variable hours of all employees, the ability to report new & terminated staff during the reporting period.

How is this still not a feature!!
Massive let down not being able to customise payroll reports to this extent. -

This report, customised to each state's respective reporting requirements, must be given top priority. Portable LSL has already been legislated in several states and, inevitably, will be introduced Australia wide.
This isn't a request for an improvement. This is a request to enable us to comply with State legislation in a timely and efficient manner! It's like not having a BAS report and saying all the information is there, what else do you need?
The current reports available go nowhere near providing the data in a useful format. It took me almost two days to lodge our first report for just 63 employees. This MUST be given top priority!

A single Portable LSL report that meets the criteria for each state must be developed ASAP. In the interim, a payroll activity report that allows you to select the relevant payroll remuneration categories AND total them for the quarter, plus another report that counts the number of weeks each employee works at least one hour must be made available immediately. The current customisation options available in Xero are very limited. You can only filter one category at a time. Not good enough.

Leave Plus (formerly) CoInvest require days worked and gross OTE including sick days and annual leave taken. They work out the LSL based on these figures and charge the company 2.7% on the gross for each employee. In addition to this, apprentices are not charged at all, so there would need to be a way of not including this in the total while still showing how many days in the quarter were worked. I am coming from Reckon Enterprise which is easily able to add this as a company contribution and provide a customisable report showing all the information that I need. Xero's reporting isn't very customisable in comparison to Reckon.

Maybe it would be better for Xero to provide customisable reports like with Profit & Loss. I have always thought the reporting out of Xero is clunky (especially) payroll reporting.

Hi XERO , I have yet to see an acknowledgment of this request.
What is your process for transparent responses of this kind?

Calculation for Leave Plus (Co Invest) would be amazing. Instead of calculating it manually every quarter

Portable Long Service Leave Report - need a quarterly report that meets the NSW Cleaning Long Service Leave requirements. Also a spot for the LSL worker numbers in the employee file that prefills into report. The quickbooks reports does this reporting VERY well

we need a platform to be able to calculate this leave correctly ..as each state has a different tiered rate to calculate against.

This is crucial and will quickly become more and more important! Given PLSA allows for spreadsheet import I would like to see a compatible export report.

This is ABSOLUTELY critical.
It could be achieved quite simply, by changing the Payroll Activity Summary report to allow grouping by employee, and then adding a filter box to allow us to choose and tick required pay items to be included in the report.
The report for PLSL can take upwards of 3 hours each quarter to produce simply because of the issues around getting the data out of Xero.
None of the other software providers are any better than Xero so it would be a BIIIG drawcard to be able to fulfill this requirement easily.
For bookkeepers who have to provide this report every quarter for multiple clients it would save days of time (not just hours - DAYS!)
Happy to be contacted by Xero to walk through how this could work -
