I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem.

I think the issue is that Xero isn't really designed for full accrual accounting as it is marketed more to small businesses that primarily use the cash method despite having the accrual option.

My issue is more with Sales Invoices which are created and synced from a trade platform but due to needing to make possible amendments, they aren't synced until paid which doesn't affect BAS reporting as we are CASH method but if the period has been locked, I have to reopen to bring it over but it also impacts financial reports for prior periods which has implications for tax and financial reporting.

I agree with Lori and Tarryn, as a bookkeeper it is necessary to have an audit trail to resolve issues and have accountability, especially with other users not having an accounting background. This has been very helpful on a number of occasions.

As a compromise, maybe having deletion rights for advisors/senior admin users only would allow deletion under some circumstances where an audit trail isn't needed.

We hear you team! Thank you for continuing to share back with us here, and a big thanks to those that registered interest and provided input to the teams earlier research.

Right now, there's still some discovery going on around this functionality, but I want to assure you this is a feature our team are keen to develop.

While the first round of research helped inform our team they want to dive deeper into some of the aspects surrounding this feature that'll help ensure we create a solution that'll best fit majority of businesses.

We'd like to give provide the opportunity to everyone here to participate in this and if you can spare a few minutes, our team have prepared a few questions in this form 📝 that we'd love your feedback on.

Hi, in response to Streamline Auto Parts:

I understand that your request may be valid for your situation but I have been a bookkeeper and worked in accounting roles for many years and not had a need or requirement to send a statement showing only overdue invoices and excluding current but unpaid invoices. Maybe this is industry specific but a statement format that clearly shows an overdue balance amount to differentiate from the total balance owing and possibly highlight the overdue ones (although this is usually clear from the due dates) is fairly standard and accepted by both customers and suppliers.

For the sake of getting this closer to actually being implemented – if that is even possible given the long time delay from the initial request – having workable options for the statement email templates and scheduling of sending statement emails automatically would be a significant improvement on what we currently have.

If Xero can also work with the statement format to highlight the overdue invoices in some way – bold or italic font, or different colour (this may have already been suggested)– that should be sufficiently clear to a customer what needs to be paid ASAP and the email template can include some appropriate wording. A placeholder option to include the overdue amount in the email would help.

Paid Nice has good features but not feasible at min $99pm extra for basic plan just to get automated reminders/statements sent.

Statey is a minimum of $15pm, not really justifiable for a small business when we need multiple addons to fill the gaps in Xero

Hi everyone, thanks for your support in this idea, We appreciate the need in having more visibility of the last reconciled period of a a bank account at a quick glance.

We're keeping a close eye on the needs around Reconcile period and are tracking demand in this type of reporting closely. We'll be sure to share if there are any updates with you here.

Maybe the last reconciled date could be incorporated on the Bank Accounts page where all accounts are listed. Sometimes the Home Page only shows the currently or most frequently used bank accounts and can get crowded with other widgets.

MYOB had employee onboarding before Xero (which is unusual) but does allow the payroll admin to view/download a PDF of what the employee has entered.

Hi, my workaround for this is to add BPAY or DD to the end of the supplier's contact name, ie SUPPLIER NAME (BPAY) or SUPLIER NAME (DD), so I know to skip these in the list of bills awaiting payment when I create a batch. As they don't need a remittance, it doesn't matter.

Hi team, we appreciate the on-going support and feedback we're receiving on this idea and pleased to be able to share this update. Our product team are actively exploring how we can best solve for the needs raised here, although at this time are unable to provide any set timeframes.

They are very much aware of the appetite from our community on this, and as part of their exploration have reached out some users here as they gather insights.

For the time being we'll shift to In discovery and I'll return as soon as there is more on this to share.

This is just another critical function request lost in the quagmire that is the Product Idea forum - so many ideas and requests in a format that is hard to use for both users (to see if an idea is already listed, vote on something, make sense of due to varied wording), let alone Xero to actually stay on top of, the lists are getting longer. not shorter. If an idea like this (and so many others) hasn't gained enough traction after 13 years - what hope do we have for meaningful improvements!

I frequently receive remittances for up to 50 invoices and having to keep scrolling down the list to mark them off is time consuming.
Having the option to expand the window to see more invoices would be very helpful.

Can currently only see 5 transactions at a time and have to scroll multiple times to mark off all transactions for a payment of 20-30+ invoices. This is time consuming and it would be better to be able to extend the matching window to view say at least 20 transactions at once to reduce the amount of scrolling required

Hi team, we get how searching across bank accounts would be useful when looking for a specific transaction.

While our product team have reviewed this idea, we don't have any plans for developing this capability in the short term.

That doesn’t mean it’s off the table, and we'll continue to assess the interest from community in this as we keep planning our roadmaps.

If things change we'll gladly share with you all here.

In the meantime, you can use the search in Xero and filter by bank transactions. It’s not a perfect solution, but it can help in some situations.

Thanks for sharing more detail around your workflow. We understand the request to edit a reconciled batch without needing to remove and recreate it. Having the flexibility to make minor changes to an existing batch could help save time and reduce rework.

In the meantime, you can leverage the Batch Payment feature to select relevant bills and credit notes from the Bills list, and create a batch payment transaction. You can then simply match the batch payment transaction to the statement line without having to manually select each bills from the Find & Match table.

We've updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and let us know how you'd like to use it.

Hey community, thanks for your engagement about your needs in Payday Super.

As you may have seen, we've introduced a new auto super overview page which indicates the number of contributions that need attention/are past their expected payment date, as well as batches that need your attention too.

    We have plans for developing send email notifications that'll be triggered to all payroll admins;

    • 1 day after the expected payment date has passed, and again
    • 7 days after if no action has been taken

We'll keep you updated on these notifications here and encourage your continued feedback.

Hi there. With Payday Super changes coming soon, we know many of you will be thinking about how the new super payment timing will work for your business. It’s something we’re keeping a close eye on too.

While this particular idea isn’t currently on our product team’s roadmap, it’s on our radar and we’re actively monitoring the feedback here.

There are also a couple of related ideas focused on super payment timing that are already in development:

AU Payroll: Superannuation > standardised payment date aligned with PayDay Super - In Development

AU Payroll - Payday super reminders - In Development

If either of these would help, we’d really appreciate you adding your vote.

This is a fundamental issue that should have been done right from the start of payday super, especially to have the payments align for audit and reconciling.

This is also a big concern for small businesses, esp if there's only one payroll person who wants to take leave but also for processing multiple pays in advance over Dec/Jan which also impacts cash flow.

With the new super process, there are multiple screens to click through which are unnecessary, more than previously, which is onerous with the more frequent payments (I do up to 4 payruns a week across multiple businesses).

Should be just one screen to select the payments, request and enter the code and approve/complete the process.

Thanks for continuing to follow along and join in the support of this idea, community. To reiterate on our last update we appreciate and understand the need in being able to easily view an employees' leave balances when reviewing leave.

As already spotted from comments here, I'd like to share an update with the release of projected leave balances in Xero Payroll Australia. This feature has just been rolled out to Payroll admins, where you'll be able to view an employees estimated leave balance when adding, editing or approving leave. You'll be able to view a calculation breakdown and will see a warning when a leave request may result in a negative balance. Helping you to better assess and manage leave for your organisation. 😁

We understand this feature is desired in other regions we offer Payroll and we'll continue to consider how this may be adopted in other…

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued feedback about managing working patterns for part-time employees.

We’re pleased to share that we plan to begin rolling out working patterns in AU Payroll later this year.

The first release will allow you to set a one-week work pattern for each employee. This pattern will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. At this stage, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.

We plan to build on this foundation by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share more details as the first release gets closer.

This was raised 2 years ago and no response from Xero for 12 months and then just to say it's Accepted which just means it won't be happening any time soon, despite being available in other regions - does not make sense!

In the meantime they tout the improvements they have made which fix none of the key everyday issues frontline users are crying out for.

Xero are too comfortable in thinking they don't need to listen to their core users.

The only way I make different work patterns work is use an Excel spreadsheet and manually enter timesheet data and then manually enter it into Xero - very archaic but it's the only way I can trust it will be correct and cross check Xero's accrual calculation
Come on Xero - lift your game for your long suffering users!

As so many have said - if this is available to UK and NZ why can't it just be brought across to AU users?

To still not have it given any priority when there is a clear need but we see new features and "window dressing" the interface which are not as important to all the longstanding current users is just frustrating.

Appreciate there are more settings that you'd like to expand the use of the Credit Limit for, Joyce.

In lieu of change in the direct feature atm, one way to prevent further invoices from being raised for a contact could be to set their limit to the amount of the invoice due which would stop all future invoices for the contact being raised.
