  1. I would like to be able to check mark the invoices being paid on the contact page where you look at the open invoices instead of going to a separate page to pay bulk invoices.

    Thanks for your feedback on being able to pay invoices and bills directly from the contact page.

    This isn’t something that’s on our current roadmap for invoicing, bills or payments. Right now we’re focused on other improvements in these areas, so there’s no planned work or timeframe we can share for adding a bulk “pay / receive payment” option from the contact view ⭐

    If this changes and the idea moves onto the roadmap, we’ll post an update on the Product Ideas page first so you can follow along:


  2. Bulk archive option for any contact either supplier and customer with no activity after 2 years or at least being able to run a report for the same inactivity (Smart list does not offer the options needed)

    We understand why this idea is quickly gaining traction. Being able to start typing in the search bar as soon as the contacts page loads would be a small but meaningful improvement.

    Right now, the cursor doesn’t land in the search bar by default, so it’s an extra click each time.

    This idea's now in the Gaining Support stage. If it’s something that would make a difference to your workflow, adding your vote or comment helps us understand the wider demand—and gives our product team more to work with when prioritising updates.

  4. FINTECH requires Xero’s Contact ID for integration, but the Contact ID isn’t included in the contact export. They must be manually copied from the URL, which is slow and error prone.

  5. When setting up suppliers in "Contacts" within Xero, it would be great if Xero could perform a VAT check from a link to the HMRC website. There could be a button next to the VAT number box called "Check VAT" and then the supplier's VAT details (as per HMRC) would show.

    Furthermore, it would be great if there could be a VAT report that you could run each quarter to check whether all VAT numbers are correct. It might involve a bit more work for the bookkeeper to ensure they set up the supplier correctly in Xero, but it would…

    Thanks for the suggestion to add a “Check VAT” action in Xero Contacts to verify VAT numbers directly with HMRC John. We can see how this would be a helpful addition for ongoing supplier checks ✨.We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so others can vote and add real-world examples. The more detail you can share about when and how you’d use this (for example, one-off checks during setup vs. quarterly reviews), the better we can assess impact and prioritisation. We’ll continue to monitor interest and will update this thread if there’s progress to share.



  6. On these top level menu layouts, like Invoices, Bills and Contact Activity list we really need to be able to add/remove columns. Eg. to see the net total for each Bill/Invoice, not just the gross amount including VAT.

    We use these menu layouts a lot, and have to copy and paste to Excel when we want to send that data, because there seems to be no export on Xero that can produce a neat one row per invoice layout. The exports produce a massive report that displays every row from every invoice - not much use.

    Appreciate your feedback, Maggie. However it is unlikely that this change would be made across all areas of Xero at once. It would help to get an understanding of the desire for this in each area to share with our product teams.

    We have an existing idea for customising columns in the Invoices list, and one around the ability to view total and tax amount columns in the bills list that I have added your vote to, and I have adjusted your idea here for the customisation of columns in the Contact Activity. If there is any progress for each of these we will update on the respective idea. Thanks

  7. Under Customers Accounts, File Attachments - Move the View button for the attachment to the LEFT side and keep the Delete button on the RIGHT side of the attachment. NOT next to each other.

    Multiple times, we have accidentally deleted important files from the customer contact account.

    Hi Sherri, thanks for your feedback. I know you started your idea in the Navigation and Homepage forum however this appears to relate to the Contacts page where you attach files to a contacts record.

    I've slightly update the title of your idea and moved this across forums. We will start to get a sense of the interest in this from the community here.

  8. I use Auto Tax. Be nice to go into contacts and select that as a default for contacts, where appropriate. Rather having to go to the drop down (in Invoices) each time.

  10. The new version of XPM now only shows contacts' phone numbers (land line) if that field has been completed and not mobile numbers - to view the mobile number we now have to open the contact up to view this. Can you please change this so that the contacts show mobile number instead thanks.

  11. Can we please have an option to run a report for contacts incl Suppliers for example, where we can then audit new suppliers for a time period. Links into other ideas posted here to also see last active/used date. Similiar to the account transaction reports but to be able to run one for Contacts/suppliers would be super helpful for audits. Currently xero does not support any such thing, only the history & notes which is basically useless as it does not have the capacity to show or export more than 1000 entries, so when we do more than that in…

For tracking payable transactions (bills) by contact, we suggest using the Supplier Bill Activity Report or filtering the Account Transactions Report by contact and payable invoices. If you require setup assistance, please raise a case with our support team for guidance.Regarding the 'last active/used date' feature: This functionality is not currently available in Xero. We have moved your idea to the Gaining Support section.We encourage you to share this idea with others to help build traction for its development.

  12. Customer statements to show on the contacts tab when sent - I can see in history & notes on the file tab on a contact that a statement was sent but it would be great if it was possible to click a link here to see the statement that was sent to the customer (rather ticking to send statement to own e-mail)

In Xero, under All contacts, would be great if we & please add had more columns or choices to add certain column of attributes of the contact showing if they are in a group, and possibly a last action date of last transaction, so that any can be easily Archived, when they haven't been accessed in a long while.   14. The Contacts listing in Xero shows amount owing on left and amount receivable on right, it would be more 'readable' to accountants if it were the other way around:

    They Owe - left side / debit / current asset
    You Owe - right side / credit / current liability

    Thanks for sharing your idea about how you'd like the "You Owe" and "They Owe" columns to be the other way around.


    It's worth noting that the current orientation matches the Spent/Received columns in the Reconcile tab of the bank account. You might like to raise a separate product idea if you'd also like a similar change there (or maybe an option to swap the columns around).

  15. Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.

    When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.

    As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

  17. When creating a new client and selecting their title e.g. Mr/Mrs, allowing this to be searched by typing in the start of it, rather that having to scroll through the entire list of options - A through to M is a LONG list, another thing that was taken off when the new update occurred, a nightmare for Admin staff!!!

  19. In nearly every other business program, a Contact refers to a person and not the business name. The person should be the primary entry entered for contact information, and the business name is an attribute to that person, not the person an attribute to the business as it is currently set up in Xero. We often have to change the specific person (or entity like Accounts Payable) who a quote or invoice or other document needs to go to, and the only way to do that currently is to change the primary person under the business name each time we…

  20. I want to be able to run a report of the quantity of a specific item that my contact or a group of contacts sell in a specific time period. not dollar amount, but an actual item or group of items.

    Thanks for your suggestion about reporting on the quantity of items sold per contact or contact group over a given period (rather than just the total dollar value). At the moment, Xero doesn’t have a specific report that shows “item quantity by contact or contact group”, and this isn’t on our current roadmap for inventory or reporting. Today, some customers approximate this using the Receivable Invoice Details report or Sales by Item report with filters and external pivots, but we know that’s not as simple as having a dedicated report.

    This idea is still open for votes and If this work does move onto the roadmap in future, we’ll post an update on this idea.
