Statements - Email template placeholder for Overdue Balance
Can we please have a 'placeholder' field for 'Overdue Balance' so that an email template may be created notifying the customer that their balance is '£x' of which '£y' is overdue?
Hi, thanks for sharing this idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support it with their votes and comments.
In the meantime as you've likely noticed, there are placeholders for Statement Balance, Balance With Currency and Symbol, and Balance With Symbol that you might use in the email template.

Hi, just had a look at this and the option mentioned below isn't a placeholder field for a custom email template as it appears was requested and would allow the user the flexibility to draft a suitable template, or different variations depending on the tone they want to set.
Lisa's screenshot shows the standard statement email template which I don't have an issue with as customers often don't read "reminder" emails so a prominent overdue message might get noticed.
Personally, I use my own custom statement template for overdue accounts which I send weekly and normal statements monthly. It is a bit of a hassle to manually select only overdue accounts as Xero can't add some automation options for sending emails for invoices. statements, etc -

Totally agree with Lisa, the "Overdue" does appear aggressive & has the ability to upset valued customer.
It would make sense to have the option to turn this off, if not required.
The alternative for us would be to just print (or drag & drop) the PDF & just email this as is - which would be a step backwards! -

Regarding the recent updates within Xero, it has become apparent that the 'Statements - Email template placeholder for Overdue Balance' has now been activated.
However, there is no option to remove the Overdue Balance listed on accompanying email that is sent with the statement. Surely it should be the choice of the business to have (or not have) this included?
The overdue notice balance is listed in red lettering at the top of the email which looks rather aggressive - see screenshot from a statement that was unfortunately sent to one of our customers with the Overdue Amount listed. This has changed in a matter of days (the previous statement emailed to a customer a couple of days prior did not have this notice). The Overdue Balance does not show on the email template before you press the button to send the statement - it only appears once the statement has been sent.
Please change this as soon as possible - Our business relies on the more personable approach, especially with our trade customers. This could well have a damaging effect on our relationships with our customers. We need to be able to remove this option.
