Karen M, in case you’re still working on the 31 October return: the tool I mentioned is ready and free to use at this stage. It works out the PLSA hours and ordinary pay from the Xero exports. It runs entirely in your browser, so no payroll data is uploaded or stored anywhere, and it even works with the internet switched off. If you’re interested, just email me.
Ivka, thanks, that’s really helpful. Working out weeks worked for casuals from the timesheet report is one of the things the tool does for the SA return, so you’d be welcome to try it too.Free to use at this stage, just email me.

Thanks Karen. When you lodge with LeavePlus, do you key each worker's days and wages into the portal by hand, or can you upload a file? And for the unpaid leave days, do you pull them from the Leave Requests report or from each employee's leave tab?

Thanks Karen L, the days calculation across part-time staff and unpaid leave sounds like the slow part. Which scheme are those two businesses in?

Karen M, no pressure for this quarter since you're nearly there. If it would help, I'm happy to have something ready for the January return instead.

Thanks Karen, that's a big jump from 1.5-2 hours. I'm working on something for exactly this step and would be happy to let you use it for this quarter's return, free, in exchange for your feedback. It runs in your own browser, so no payroll data is uploaded anywhere. If you're interested, email me at ddlab.dev90@gmail.com and I'll send the details.

Thanks Karen, that's really clear. When you entered it into the portal by hand for around 80 staff, roughly how long did a quarter take, and is that you or a bookkeeper doing it? And is it the Victorian portal's CSV upload you'd want the file in?

Thanks Karen and Lindy, that’s really useful. Karen, in the 1.25-hour one, which part eats the time: pulling the reports out of Xero, or working out which pay items and unpaid days to exclude? And do either of you lodge these for other businesses as well, or only your own?

I’m a developer looking into this. For those lodging portable LSL returns each quarter: which scheme do you report to, roughly how many workers, and how long does building the return from Xero take today? Has anyone tried a tool for it?

I'm a developer looking into this. For those preparing the annual workers compensation wage declaration from Xero: which state do you declare in, roughly how long does it take, and what's the hardest part (which pay items to include, splitting by state, or adding contractors)?

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts on having a payroll report that calculates payroll state tax. We understand some of you are required to calculate tax across multiple states.

While we don't currently have a report which calculates earnings based on state, some of you have mentioned workarounds such as using the Payroll Activity Summary report. This report includes earnings totals and can be filtered by a date range and employee groups.

We recognise the value a report of this nature could have for our customers and it’s been added to the wider pool of ideas for our product team to consider for future development.

While it’s not on our immediate roadmap, we’ll be sure to keep you looped in if there’s any progress.

I'm a developer looking into this. For those preparing the monthly payroll tax return from Xero today: roughly how long does it take each month, and which part is slowest: splitting wages by state, adding contractor payments, or working out which pay items count? How many states do you lodge in?

Linda and Michelle, for those of you working out the LSL provision at month end or EOFY: roughly how long does it take each time, and across how many employees? Is most of the time in merging the reports in Excel, or in working out each person's entitlement under your state's rules (pro-rata, casual and part-time hours)?

For those calculating length of service by hand at the moment: what do you use it for most often (LSL eligibility, notice and redundancy, or month-end leave provisions), and roughly how many employees and how often? Do you keep a separate spreadsheet for it?

Thanks for sharing and engaging with product ideas here. We appreciate the desire to run more reports in Xero in a different currency.

To confirm what is currently available in Xero for multi currency reporting - Right now the aged reports will run in the organisation's base currency. However, for any invoice or bill that has been created in a foreign currency you'll see an icon next to that line in your report which provides notation of the exchange rate details, and these will all be listed at the bottom of the report.

With the Payable and Receivable summary and detail reports you can add an 'Original currency' column along with other foreign exchange details.

It's also possible to add a filter to these reports to only show invoices of a particular status for example Awaiting payment.

I know this doesn't accomplish all that's being asked in this idea and…

I’m a developer looking into this. How do you produce the original-currency aged report today (export plus Excel lookups?), how often, and how long does it take? Has anyone found an add-on that does it?

I’m a developer looking into this. For those using the DD/BPAY-suffix workaround: roughly how many bills a month does this cover, and what happened when it broke (e.g. a direct-debit bill paid twice)? Has anyone tried an add-on for it?

I'm a developer looking into this. When something changed in XPM and you needed to know who did it (a deleted report, a reopened job, an edited client record), how did you track it down, and how long did it take?

Hello everyone, appreciate all your feedback here. To be upfront, we don’t have any plans to develop the ability to reconcile clearing, control and non-bank accounts in the near future.

Some of the technology improvements going on across Xero will create more opportunities for us to explore extending some of the more complex functionality from one part of Xero to another. However, we are some way off from this yet.

That being said, there is the Account transaction report that could be handy in providing a view of both sides of a transaction in Xero. You can include the related account as a column in the report - See more in our help article on this.

Alternatively, if you’re using an external system, you could look into the Xero App store.

Appreciate there are also lots of ways others are using Xero’s to fit their needs - If you…

I'm a developer looking into this. For those reconciling clearing or control accounts (GST, PAYG, super, Stripe or card clearing) outside Xero today: how do you do it each month, and roughly how many hours does it take per client? Has anyone tried a dedicated tool for it, and how did that go?

Hi everyone, while we don't have a direct report for this, some changes we've made to History & Notes in Xero will help in achieving what you're in need of here.

You can run the History & Notes, filtering by Type = Contact and typing 'Bank account number' in the Search to just view results for this action.

If needed you'll be able to export your results to PDF or Excel.

Though the contact name doesn't show on screen, you can right click on the Contact in the report to open the contact's record in a new browser tab, that allows you to inspect details without navigating away from your History & Notes results.

I'm a developer looking into this gap. For those of you whose auditors ask for this every year: what do you hand them today, and roughly how long does it take to put together? Has anyone tried a tool for it, and how did that go?
