Thanks for the added detail, everyone. It's good to be able to share this detail back with our teams.
Appreciate why Bank Rules won't help for cash accounts and where you don't have a bank feed coming into the account.
Being open, this isn't something we have plans for changing in the short-term. We'll leave the idea open for our product team to continue considering how we could improve efficiency in some of the situations you've described. If there are any updates we'll share this with you all here.

Hi Andrew, thanks for highlighting this idea. We can see how having support for longer account codes would make it easier for businesses with more complex chart of accounts structures, or those migrating from other systems, to retain their existing account numbering.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this is something you'd like to see, please continue to vote and share how longer account codes would support your accounting workflow.

I can't believe it's been two years and this still hasn't been resolved. This has created unnecessary workarounds, caused extra confusion and makes the potential for errors so much higher, which is ironic given that their reasoning for this limitation is to prevent such errors. We switched to Xero hoping for a streamlined process, and now we may have to switch to yet another software.
