Manual Journals - Allow reversed manual journals to be visible on Xero
At the moment, if you reverse a journal with the same date as the original journal, it actually deletes both the original journal and the reversed journal from your manual journal listing in Xero. (You are only likely to do this in error, and it would not be immediately obvious to you as to what you have done). Both journals immediately become invisible and both are thus then uneditable. This should not be the case, there should be an ability to correct your mistakes. The only way to discover your mistake is by the 'Journal report' where you can see both journals but still cannot edit them. This is confusing and misleading for users. Voided journals are visible, so these journals should be visible too. Journals should also be clickable on to edit via the 'Journal report' also, in the same way that transactions are clickable on in a transactional report.
Hi Neil, thanks for sharing your idea here. We appreciate the need for having a clear view of the reversed journals. We'll move this idea to gain more support from the community so they can share their thoughts and vote on this as well. We will monitor this space for more traction in the meantime.

Allowing reversed manual journals to be visible in Xero is really about improving audit transparency, because even when an entry is corrected or reversed, you still want a clear trail of what originally happened and why it was changed. I think this is especially important in bookkeeping workflows where multiple people are involved, since hidden reversals can create confusion during reconciliations or audits if you can’t easily trace adjustments. Personally, I feel Xero works best when everything stays visible and properly labeled, because accounting is all about clarity over time, not just getting numbers to match at the end. It’s a bit like Strawberry Sunrise Alani in a subtle way—clean, consistent visibility of what’s inside matters more than hiding or overcomplicating things. Do you think most teams prefer cleaner ledgers, or are they more focused on reducing clutter even if it hides some audit detail? https://strawberrysunrisealani.com/
