Hi community, we appreciate everyone's engagement here. To confirm we have intentions of developing the purchase order experience, however developing Projects into this does have some complexities and requires work across both purchase orders and projects to deliver.
Right now our initial focus is releasing the new purchase order experience to all users.
While we don't have a timeframe for assigning PO's to Projects at this stage, this is top of our product teams radar and we'll communicate here as soon as there's an update.

We currently add the project as a tracking category to work around the inability to assign purchase orders to Projects. It's additional administration for the team and looks clumsy because it is clumsy.
This is a basic requirement: raise a purchase order against a project, see the committed cost, and carry that allocation through when the supplier’s bill arrives. Customers should not need to construct a parallel project-coding system to make those steps connect.
The comments here repeatedly describe spreadsheets, duplicate entry and manual reconciliation. That is customers doing the work the software should be doing.
It is particularly frustrating to see resources devoted to cosmetic changes while this gap remains. A better-looking purchase order screen with AI assistance does very little for us if the purchase order still cannot be assigned to the project it belongs to.
Please could Xero confirm:
-Whether this feature has been approved for development.
-Whether a delivery period has been allocated.
-And if neither applies, should the most recent (262 days and counting) Xero update... “top of the radar” to be understood as an expression of sympathy rather than a statement of intent?
