Hi team, we want to acknowledge your feedback and the needs you’ve expressed for being able to view the transaction line description in the account transactions report.
While we appreciate not the news you’re hoping for here - we want to be honest with you all that there are no plans at this stage to change the behaviour of this report.
We appreciate there can be some confusion of what is shown as it does differ based on the account and the line’s origin. We have added detail within our Xero Central article, but I’ve also noted below for ease of reference.
- For accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, and tax account, it shows the contact’s name.
- For all other accounts, it shows the contact’s name and the item line description.
- As manual journals don’t have contacts, it shows narration and description.
- For wage payments, Payroll Employee displays in…

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea and adding your feedback.
We understand why being able to connect Claude across multiple Xero organisations could be helpful, particularly for advisors and bookkeepers who work across several clients or entities. The idea is to allow a single Claude connection to access multiple organisations, removing the need to reconnect or switch between organisations when working across different datasets.
We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this would be useful for your workflow, please add your vote and share more about how you'd use it.

When running the Account Transaction Report, it would be useful to have the account description available as an optional column on each transaction line.
Many organisations use account descriptions to provide additional context about the purpose and treatment of nominal ledger accounts. Including the account description directly within the report would make it easier for accountants, bookkeepers and auditors to:
Understand the nature of each account without referring back to the Chart of Accounts.
Review and analyse transaction listings more efficiently.
Export reports to Excel with all relevant account information included.
Reduce time spent cross-referencing account codes and descriptions during year-end accounts preparation and audit work.
Improve the usefulness of transaction exports shared with external accountants and advisors.
Suggested enhancement:
Add an optional "Account Description" column to the Account Transaction Report that can be enabled or disabled in the report layout settings, similar to other optional report fields.
Example:
Current output:
400 - Sales
500 - Cost of Sales
Proposed output:
400 - Sales | Description: Retail sales income
500 - Cost of Sales | Description: Direct costs associated with sales
This would be a small change to the report layout but would provide a meaningful efficiency improvement for accounting and reporting workflows.
