  1. Would it be possible to create a contact who is a "sub contact" of an existing contact. For example we perform work for a strata management company. Every invoice is made out to [name of strata company] but the contact details, email address and physical address are all the same - that of the management company. I would love to create [strata management company] as the main contact with all the strata "divisions" they manage below them without having to create a new contact for every single new building. What are my chances?

    Appreciate where you're coming from with this idea, Kirsty. 

    Right now you could create a Contact Group, and have each related contact assigned to that contact group. Get what you're saying with the efficiency when having most of the same details - for now perhaps importing via csv would help create these in less time. 

    We also have an idea for the ability to copy a contact, and another for contact group statements that you might like to join and follow. 

    We'll start to get a feel of the interest for this type of feature here, and I'll let you know if there's any change planned. 

  2. Sorting bills or invoices under contacts by bill/invoice number or date or due date or reference, etc., Previously I believe that this was possible, now the only column is date and that's pretty annoying when looking for a particular bill number, etc.,

  3. Please include the Sales Tax Exemption field as a column in the Contact csv template/import.

    The new auto tax feature appears to utilize this field, and having to go to each contact through Xero, one at a time, to edit and update this field is very time consuming. Too many clicks to update a field for every customer contact a client has.

    Tax affects all customers. It would be beneficial when rolling out new features such as this to consider what needs to be done to make such a feature truly work and be efficient. The ability to do mass…

  5. When merging contacts, you start typing the name of a contact you'd like the currently open contact merged into, and a list of similarly named contacts appears (including the contact you're getting rid of by merging it). I'd like to be able to open each of these in another tab from this list, so I can look and see which one I actually want.

    Similarly to the CTRL-click, from the list view you can use the mouse by using the left click + scroll button together to open a contact in a separate tab.

    That said, appreciate if you're in a contacts record, this does mean opening another tab to search from the main contacts list.

    To be honest, we don't have any immediate plans for developing the merge within a contact. It's something we'll continue to track here though, and I'll update if there's any progress to share.

  6. Is it possible for cash sales/one off payments to chose not to save an email address? Every time I do a one-off cash sale for a new/random customer, the email address automatically saves into the Cash Sale contact file. But the next cash sale invoice is going to a different email address, so while I can input the new email address, the one prior is printed on the invoice! It is getting very tedious having to go into the contact file, delete the previous email address and get back into the new invoice to reprint it every time I do…

    Thanks for your feedback, Carolyn. Appreciate the different use case and why you may not want information from a singular invoice to update the contact. We'll get an understanding of the demand for this here. 

    In the meantime, it'd be good to understand if recording as Receive money could help your flow here for cash sales so you don't have to enter contact details?

  7. How many times have we received a payment from a customer and not known which invoices they have paid? Or followed up an outstanding invoice that they have listed as paid in their system?

    It would be great to have a button to request remittance advice from a customer for a particular deposit. We have a list of customers for many of our clients where we manually send these requests via email. It is time-consuming and inefficient, though it would be great to have the automation of sending the request straight out of Xero from the Bank Rec screen!

    Appreciate no direct feature for this at present, Grace and we'll begin to get a sense of the interest in this here. In the meantime, perhaps including the request in the invoice Terms and Conditions could be a good indicator that this is something you request of your customers when sending the invoice or reminders? 

  8. In the activity tab in contacts, it'd be great to be able to have a "files" column just like in the bills section, so that we can preview the invoices to the side rather than having to click into the bill to see the invoice.

  9. Move the Delete button away from preview in files attached to contacts.
    So many times, I have accidently deleted files attached to contacts. The delete button is right next to the preview. There is no way to restore once deleted..

  10. When merging customers xero currently completes the merge and then displays the profile that has been moved which typically (for me) contains no customer data. Is it possible to instead display the profile that the customer has been merged to which shows all the existing customer data. Usually I am completing a merge and then having to go in and search for the customer name again.

  12. Please could you add a Title field into the customers name - my invoices show with just the surname on which is very unprofessional.
    ie. Mr Smith on the invoice would look much nicer than just Smith !!! This must be a basic thing to do.?? Please consider this as urgent.

  13. As the new invoicing is no longer optional. I believe this issue must be addressed for all customers in the United Kingdom.

    When adding a new contact upon invoice creation, allow us to search for the address via postcode like we used to. This could be achieved by postcode search ABOVE Billing Address, then auto-populate the billing address based on the input post code.

    Note there were many issues with the search results which must also be addressed (See: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/46289185-contacts-improve-uk-postcode-lookup)

    OR alternatively allow us to simply input the full address as one line and YOU automatically digest it and…

  14. At the moment, there are two places you can find out if there are billable expenses outstanding for a Contact: at the bottom of the Sales Overview, and in one report.

    A total should be visible in the header of Contacts that have had billable expenses assigned to them (including if there's Projects assigned to that Contact with uninvoiced expenses).

    There should also be a widget for the dashboard similar to the section at the bottom of the Sales Overview.

    These will make it easier to remember to on-bill expenses in a timely fashion.

  15. Restrict users from updating contact details. updating contact details, address and attention field, updates all invoices/bills previously posted for the contact. Not all users should be able to do this function.

  17. Part 1: Integrate with Companies office NZ (or similar) so that when I enter the name of a new contact it looks for the details of the company published on the companies office / NZBN. This could reduce data entry and validate that the name entered is a real company, accepting it wouldn't cover other entities.

    Part 2: When a company status changes (e.g. goes into liquidation) you could show Xero users a warning, could do the same for company name & address changes etc..

  18. Currently, when filtering smart lists by location you can only add [city, state] tags. It would be nicer to be able to just add country tags, to sort / view contacts by country as opposed to by city.

    This would also allow new contacts in that country to automatically be added to the list, vs needing to handle this manually.

  19. When adding or editing a contact, I always enter their address.

    Xero has this great feature that allows searching for addresses, and that's wonderful!

    ...except it's arbitrarily limited to only search addresses in the country the Xero org is registered in; a US Xero org only offers autocompletion for US addresses, for example.

    In this modern, international, remote-friendly age, the notion of only having domestic clients is a little silly– especially when paying for a Xero tier that supports multiple currencies.

    So: being able to search/autocomplete international addresses when editing or adding contacts would be a great addition.

    Hi community, we value your engagement in product ideas here. As you may have seen we've recently rolled out a new send experience in new invoicing. 

    With this new side-by-side view you'll find you can also CC and BCC other emails 🎉

    While this feature is contained to new invoicing atm, we'll look at applying a similar experience to other areas of Xero that you can send from in the future, so we'll keep you updated of any further developments for this here. Thanks!
