  1. The recent changes to the contacts screen have done nothing but hinder our business. You have removed the "Payments in past 12 months" which is something we rely on heavily when managing our clients. There is now no way to see all payments by a particular client where there are credit notes applied or they have paid by different means (sometimes by card, sometimes DD and sometimes bank transfer) as we would have to search each account separately and manually pull out the credit note balances. Very laborious and this is information we use daily in our credit control procedures.

  2. Stop messing around with things that people haven't asked for and actually look at implementing things that have been asked for.
    The new look for customer and sales ledgers is awful. Why change it?
    When it comes to being easy to reconcile supplier ledgers Xero is already miles behind it's competitors but you've somehow managed to make it even worse!

  3. When in the contact section and viewing the activity tab, it would be useful to be able to view PDF invoice from that screen rather than click on an invoice and click the attachment tab (similar to the function in bills to pay).

  4. To be able to see a proper transaction report of either outstanding or all transactions from the contact screen. All it gives you at the moment is a list of invoices and notes etc with no structure. If you could get a transaction history from that screen and an aged breakdown it would be really helpful, which you could download, without coming out of there and having to go to reports. It's so frustrating.

  5. Ability : To have a function within contact to block raising purchase orders to an individual supplier.

    Purpose: To ensure no future orders are placed with suppliers, who we may have had issues with previously. Easier to have a function that would automatically flag this, as opposed to placing note within contact and relying on all to find this information.

  7. I create new contacts all the time, often while creating an invoice. I usually only have a few details on hand to start creating the contact (name, email, phone number). So I flick between windows, copying from one and pasting into Xero's "create new customer" dialogue right there on the invoice edit screen.

    It's the phone number I have the most trouble with. If there are any space characters in the (usually mobile) phone number I have copied - and there pretty much always are spaces when copying from an email or whatever - then nothing will paste into the…

  8. I was recently asked by a client how create a formatted PDF list of their contacts in Xero with addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses etc.

    They had been asked for this by their factoring provider.

    I know they can select all contacts and use the option at the top of the screen to export, but that creates a csv file which obviously doesn't have any formatting and runs the risk of it being opened in Excel which then messes up phone numbers etc (we are in the UK where phone numbers start 0 and Excel 'helpfully' removes this when opening…

    Thanks for the extra detail, Ross and apologies I never rounded back on this here. While we also don't have plans for creating a report that includes all the detail from a contacts record atm I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here and we'll continue to track interest in this here. If any plans are made down the line I'll be sure to let you know on the idea here.

  9. It would be handy to be able to customize the view screen on the contacts screen within Xero. Ie add additional columns - a payment column? It would be a lot easier to have a visual of payments received rather than having to click on the invoice or run a statement against the client to see when payment was last received / paid. It would also be handy to have an item column that includes payments. As well as an option to reconfigure the column order, Ie. Date in first column.

  10. When a Xero customer is creating an invoice for another Xero customer - why not allow this to automatically show up in the Bills section, if the receiver agrees to this. Would save a heap of time and coding.

    Hi team, sorry we have not engaged with this idea before now. I'm pleased to confirm that this idea is already a feature within Xero.

    If a user is in an eInovicing region(AU, NZ or UK) and has registered to receive eInvoices, once you add them as the Contact to your invoice the option to 'Send as an eInvoice' will appear.

    For non-eInvoicing regions the option to send via the Xero network is available and your customer will be able to share their Xero network key with you to send with this option - This option is currently available from the Awaiting Payments list screen, however we're currently developing the ability to send with the Xero Network from within an invoice and you can stay updated on this delivery here.

  13. When using the new Check box. 'Use as billing address'. If you type in the address afterwards and edit the address. It deletes the the selected checkbox. 'use as billing address'

    Just frustrating as you have to go back in and recheck.

  14. I would like to add information such as the date their bank details were changed on Xero and whether independent verification of the new details has been done (and how). This is becoming more important as the number of phishing invoices increases. If possible, the capability to attach a relevant document (eg notification from supplier of bank change) but if not possible, then a decent character length text field (as a comparison, the current Reference field is way too short and doesn't allow puctuation).

  15. Copying part of a sent invoice perhaps just invoice number and amount to my e-mail would avoid a problem I had.
    My e-mails were hacked and a monthly rent invoice I had sent was copied the next month with amended bank details.
    I no longer send copies to my e-mail although now I have to concentrate more so I know which ones I have sent.
    This type of fraud has happened to someone else I know - we are more careful with our e-mail security now.

    I'm sorry to hear that your email was hacked, Joanne. As you may have seen in other ideas on the site we are working to develop the History & Notes so you'll soon be able to see detail of the email an invoice has been sent too. Doesn't ideally solve for what you're asking here, so we'll continue to track this separately and update if there's any news of having more control of what you can send with the send to self option.

It would be great if you could customise what text is displayed with placeholders on the client end, for example, for the [online quote/invoice link] options, I'd rather they could be displayed simply the other end, instead of the long web link which looks a bit spammy...ie 'please access your quote here' - and it's 'here' that links - as a normal hyperlink would

  17. When you try to add a new bank account to a contact, Xero only accepts numbers and hyphens in the field. Spaces are not accepted.

    All invoices issued by Xero have the issuer's bank account on the invoice formatted with separating spaces between the number blocks.

    So when entering a new contact, I can't just copy-paste the bank account number from the invoice that was created by Xero because the format of such number doesn't comply with the formatting in Xero contact section. Every time it has to be manually edited by all the thousands of Xero users.

  18. Whenever I enter an invoice for a new customer, which is quite often, it always annoys me that the 'Add new contact' pop-up doesn't have postcode search in it.

    So I end up adding a contact and their email, saving then going into contacts in a new tab to complete their address from their postcode.

    Just add lookup to the contact details in add quote/invoice/etc wherever there is a postcode field.

  19. Allow the contact's account number <ContactAccountNumber> to be included on Branding Theme invoices (and other documents).

  20. It would be useful to look at an activity statement to see how much a certain contact has been invoiced regardless of whether they have paid or not. At present, I can only see outstanding balances.
