New invoicing - Option to use Xero Network
xero to xero Invoicing
We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.
On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).
Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?
Thank you

Hi Chantelle
As you’ve found, there’s no functionality in New Invoicing to use Xero to Xero invoicing, as this option is being retired.
However, you can raise a suggestion directly with our product team to suggest they implement this functionality in the New Invoicing functionalities, as they're still developing additions and improvements to New Invoicing.
I’ve included a link to Xero Product Ideas where you can view and support current ideas or create a new one to share your thoughts.
Xero Product Ideas: Xero to Xero
Kind regards
Michael

Hi community, thanks for on-going engagements with us about how you use the Xero network in this idea. As our team continue work on new invoicing, development for building the Xero Network within new invoicing is now underway, and we'll keep you updated of further news of this, here.
In the meantime, if you've set up Xero network for your contacts you can continue to send these through the Invoices awaiting payments list. As mentioned in my last updated we still strongly recommend exploring eInvoicing as a solution.

Hi Xero, please hurry up and introduce the Xero-to-Xero network! It has become a nightmare for intergroup invoicing since you retired Classic Invoicing! This dramatically increases admin time for intergroup reconciliation and invoicing.
We operate in different countries, and e-invoicing (as advised as an alternative) does not work for us! We also have separate Xero subscriptions for the same registered company but with separate trust funds, so e-invoicing is not a solution either.
February has been ruined because the Xero-to-Xero link does not work on repeating invoices, forcing us to spend hours rechecking all intergroup invoices and allocating them to the appropriate entity—when before, we could simply open the draft bills and approve them!
What have you done, Xero?!! -

We kept switching back to the classic invoicing and didn't realise this feature was unavailable until now! Very annoying considering we operate through 4 companies and need to invoice management fees through each.
Hopefully this is resolved, or we may look at switching companies too! -

Xero decided to show a deaf ear to our request, and decided to enforce the New Invoicing without the EXISTING FEATURE.
All my 156 subscriptions are scheduled for cancelation. Moving each client over to Sage and hope this helps to teach Xero a lesson in the "listen to your customers" page.
Im not going to turnaround now, but hopefully Xero fixes this for the rest of you.
Good luck all

I contacted Support about this issue on the first day it changed over - we have over 100 entities we oversee and losing this feature has essentially doubled our workload. This is the response I got - pretty much saying I should lodge to "add this as a feature we would like to see" I shouldn't have to ask for a feature you already had.
From your query, it sounds like you would like to be able to access the Xero Network feature from within the invoice itself, like in Classic Invoicing.
This is a request that's already been raised with us and I've found an idea that's similar to what you’re suggesting in our Xero Product Ideas. Xero Product Ideas is a Xero website where our customers can share and support ideas for change. Here you can support it or create a new idea to share your thoughts. I can see on the idea this is something our Product teams are working on.

@Elizabeth Thorburn, you can now send via Xero to Xero network, but it’s fiddly (as is everything in new invoicing).
You have to come out of the invoice and go to the Awaiting Payment list. Tick the invoice. Press Email, then make sure you tick Send by Xero Network.
It’s not ideal as you can only send one at a time this way. It also means you have to Approve the invoice without emailing, which involves a dropdown from the ridiculous default Approve and Email button. All extra work and easy to make mistakes and end up emailing twice. That will annoy clients. The whole set up is absurd. -

The loss of this feature is enough to make our company explore alternatives to Xero. We currently manage 30 entities through Xero, and send invoices between these entities every single day. The fact that Xero has retired this feature, whilst simultaneously increasing fees, is ludicrous.

I am at a total loss as to why Classic invoicing will be retired before the Xero to Xero feature has been included. It is ridiculous. I am still using Classic Invoicing. To send Xero to Xero invoices through payment lists is an incredible time wasting seven steps instead of one in Classic invoices. E-Invoicing does not even come close to Xero to Xero.
If that worked for inter-related companies, we would all be using it for goodness sake.
Come on team. This is so frustrating from a user point of view. We pay for the service don't we? And you have seen fit to introduce a New Invoicing without an existing significant key feature, a feature that swayed many to change to Xero..I see somone has migrated to Sage. I might have a look at that as well.

Having read Xero's poor stance on support of such a significantly key feature, has resulted in my firm deciding to migrate from Xero to Sage.
Fortunately there is a Cloud Convert feature whereby you migrate from Xero to Sage for free with 2 years' data.
Let's see if Xero misses my 291 subscriptions that I am moving to Sage next month.... And then hopefully take it as a lesson learnt to listen to their clients.
Converting back from Sage to Xero again later? I won't have the energy to come back. Been a good 8 years, but Sage's intercompany feature is excellent and my only resort.

Lack of Xero 2 xero is the only reason I haven't switched to new invoicing. Disappointing I'll lose access to it next week

The link for eInvoicing isn't working. And the option Xero to Xero Network is not available on the suggestion you made for send these throught Invoices awaiting payments list so that doesn't work either... Any other solutions available?

I need to send the invoice detail from one inter-related company to another without having to reinput 20 lines of detail. Please ensure this can continue.

It’s just ridiculous to make us all take this backward step and retire the Xero to Xero network. Meanwhile increase prices disproportionately. New invoicing is already slower and more painful to use. This on top is majorly frustrating. Seeing your media adverts currently makes me want to throw a brick at my tv!

e-invoicing is poorly developed in the UK (the help screens talk about Australia & New Zealand). Also e-invoicing is unavailable if you or your customers are not VAT registered. It is frustrating that Xero don't understand their own product!

Hi
I agree complete with Sarah Tichenor -
The use case for my clients is a parent company forwarding expenses to subsidiaries or franchisees. Xero to Xero lets you export the invoice to the Franchisee via Xero to Xero. It saves a lot of recoding of GL Codes. -

Hi Xero Team,
Please update us on when the Xero-to-Xero connection will be introduced in New Invoicing. It has been under review since September last year!

Sarah Tichenor commented
With some of my customers, one parent company might conduct a lot of activity on behalf of a subsidiary and then bill it back. With Xero to Xero, I can use the “assign expenses to a customer” feature and then easily itemize each expense line by line for the subsidiary.
Xero to Xero invoicing is integral for this process because dozens of expenses may be recouped from the customer in one invoice, and when the invoice is exported to the subsidiary’s Xero profile via Xero to Xero, all activity is itemized exactly the same as the invoice, saving all the time it could take to itemize each expense over again.
This is one of the key reasons to encourage clients with multiple subsidiaries to use Xero; it is such a unique and useful tool, it would be senseless to get rid of it. I can’t understand why such a seemingly simple yet very effective feature would be retired.

Please update Xero to Xero instruction. It is confusing because this feature is not available in New Invoicing. At this moment we do not know whether this feature will be "developed" into New Invoicing.
Xero to Xero invoicing is a very important feature that should not overlook or missed in development phase of the new invoicing. It is a shame that it is now missing!
Adding another step to send Xero to Xero invoicing in awaiting payment page is unnecessary and time consuming. It defeat the purpose of efficiency, user-friendly that Xero uses to sell its product.
Hubdoc is good but Xero to Xero Invoicing is a different level of efficiency in this case.
Not able to send invoice pdf as attachment via Xero network creates more workload to check & delete emails. It is totally unnecessary when the same invoice pdf can be sent via Xero to Xero invoicing by default.
Please seriously look into it and implement the necessary.

I agree with all the comments here. We use Xero to Xero to process intercompany invoices and is one of the main reasons which drove me to migrate to Xero.
Using hubdoc and e-invoicing is not an option because we do not have the time to scan through each document and e-invoicing is not available in all jurisidctions. We maintain intercompany entities in different jurisdictions including those that does not support e-invoicing via Peppol. Please do not retire old invoicing until the new invoicing supports this feature.

Marie Lombardi commented
I agree with all comments here we use Xero to Xero invoicing for sending 60+ intercompany invoices per month and if this feature is retired it will create so much inefficiency and a world of chaos for the amount we use and rely on this function. Please really consider bringing this feature back.

We use this daily for intercompany transactions between different Xero entities. An email solution is too unreliable. And the user should not have to remember to back out to the invoices list view to select and send via the Xero Network -- that should be an option, but the ability to send should be at the individual invoice level, just like it used to be and like it is for emailing invoices.
