New Invoicing - Allow Item and Description-only lines, with no Qty or Unit Price
When choosing item code and description, I want the ability to leave the rest of the fields blank. Classic invoicing had no problems with it. The new invoicing wants to populate QTY, UNIT PRICE and AMOUNT. Makes the invoice look unappealing.
357 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't… -
New Invoicing - History to include if invoice is resent
When an amendment is made and the invoice resent it needs to record who it has been sent to
125 votesHi community, thanks for getting involved here and letting us know the importance around being able to see the details whenever an invoice is sent from Xero. We understand the importance of this to our customers and our product team are beginning to review this idea to solve needs in this space. We'll move to Under review and I'll let you know as there's more progress here. Thanks

New invoicing - Option to use Xero Network
xero to xero Invoicing
We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.
On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key). Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?
Thank you

Hi ChantelleAs you’ve found, there’s no functionality in New Invoicing…
63 votesHi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate all the feedback we've heard from our customers on their use of the Xero network and the importance this is for helping you move efficiently when using new invoicing. Where possible we highly encourage setting up and using eInvoicing as a solution which is wider reaching than just those businesses on Xero, and has more functionality.
In it's current state you can continue to send invoices using the Xero Network from the Awaiting payments list. That said, we've been listening closely and our product team are now considering development to incorporate sending invoices from Xero to Xero within new invoicing, as well as developing on this feature to enable attachments to be included when sending. We'll shift the idea to Under review for now and I'll share as there is more progression of this to update you on.

New Invoicing - Move Save button to bottom of invoice like classic
Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.
Or Better still
Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. More often than not it creates more work for us and causes more stress we just dont need in an…150 votesHi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

New Invoicing - Reset to Default Due Date option
New invoicing is missing the ability to select the default due date that is against the customer. I had to change the invoice date for a customer with set payment terms of 30 days from the invoice date and there were several suggestions listed but the old option to reset to default date was missing.
147 votesThanks for sharing and feeding back through this idea, community. While our team are reviewing the behaviours of date fields in new invoicing - It may help to clarify how due date works in conjunction with defaults to define how these are working in your organisation at present. Basically put, every time you change an Issue date this influences the Due date, which is a slight change to classic invoicing.
Currently, there are two defaults that can be set in Xero, within Invoice Settings and within an individual Contact records.
Invoice Settings due date is a blanket for any invoice raised in the org, if you set a Contact due date this will override the Invoice Settings due date when you select that Contact when invoicing.
When you change the Due date of an invoice, and then edit it's Issue date this will trigger any defaults you have set up…

User Role - Access to specific feature only
"Business and accounting" role needs ability to more narrowly define. I want an employee to access invoices (receivables) but that then gives them access to ALL financial reporting, e.g. P&L, which I don't want them to see.
277 votesHi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct… -
Xero Login - Enable Passkeys as a replacement to passwords
Passkeys (https://fidoalliance.org/passkeys/) are rapidly taking over passwords and are infinitely more secure than passwords.
Intuit are already using Passkeys (https://fidoalliance.org/case-study-intuits-roi-from-passwordless-customer-authentication/)
26 votesHi everyone, we know our customers would like more efficiency and simpler methods when logging in to use Xero.
We're pleased to share that our product team have begun work to enable logging into Xero using passkeys.
We'll shift to Under review and I'll return to keep you updated of progress in this space. Thanks

New invoicing - Set default for 'save'
When invoicing, i usually do in large batches. The save and close function should be second, with save and add another first. Or have the option to edit so it comes first for me?
12 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback and what would help you in the new invoicing experience. Currently our team are looking at possible keyboard shortcuts for drop down fields within new invoicing that'd enable you to more efficiently choose the action that was most suitable for you. As this firms up and we can give more detail of what this looks like I'll keep you updated, here.

New Invoicing - one click tracking fill from contact default
On classic invoicing, when you click the account category space or the tracking category it would fill in from the contact default, or account default or some default. But on new invoicing it only fills in if you tab.
6 votesWe appreciate the feedback here. Trying to better understand the flow of how you enter data for your invoices - Atm, when you've added a contact with Sales defaults for Account, Tax rate or Tracking as soon as you enter a Qty. or Price these defaults will kick in and autofill the line. This works when either tabbing or clicking into fields.
Is it possible that where this behaviour is occurring for you is when there is no Qty. or Price in the line? If so, is there a particular reason you'd enter this information prior to entering Qty. or Price for a line?

New Invoicing - Copy invoice to keep existing email
Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.
Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.
Thanks
5 votesSorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.
Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.
To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.
We understand…

New Invoicing | Copy to - Purchase order
When a selecting the new invoicing platform, you lose certain functions.
The first function that has been lost is the ability to copy invoice data to a purchase order - this feature needs to added to the new platform as some business use this to purchase items that have been sold from a supplier and makes sure there are no errors.
The second function is when invoicing from Project the time entered for that project is no longer being allocated to an invoice and showing in the project as not invoiced, this will cause doubling up on billing.110 votesHi community, I'm pleased to share with you that the Product team are investigating the first part of this idea - to copy invoice data to a purchase order in new invoicing. There's a few other bits of work lined up before they get to this but we'll be sure to return with an update on progress once there's more news 📰
As for the second function raised here, when you raise an invoice from Projects that includes tasks, time entries or expenses, if you change the project field on new invoicing the connection with Projects will be removed. To correct this, you can either void/delete the invoice and recreate it from the project or manually mark the time entry/task/cost as invoiced.

Invoicing - Sending Invoices by SMS
ADD SMS OPTION TO SEND INVOICE VIA SMS. LOT OF PEOPLE SEND VIA IPHONE OR IPAD ECT
15 votesThanks for your support and sharing in this idea, everyone. As we continue to develop new invoicing and how to help our customers get paid faster we're beginning to explore ideas like yours here - To enable more efficiencies in how you receive and pay for invoices with Xero. We'd like to invite those from AU on the idea here to participate in a pilot we're starting for being able to invoices via SMS with Xero. If you'd be interested in being involved please respond to my update here and I can share your details to our team who'll be in touch.
For the time being this is limited to customers using Xero in Australia, however we'll be sure to return and share where this work goes.

Bank Reconciliation - Reconcile against Statement
We would like the ability to reconcile transactions against a statement in addition to just reconciling from the bank feeds.
There have been so many issues with bank feeds, that often we find the statement balance does not match Xero. The issue with running the reconciliation report is that some banks will have some transactions from the closing date in the current statement and some of them on the next statement. The only way for us to break it out and match the balance is to export transactions to a spreadsheet and then change the date of those transactions in…

New Invoicing - Due Dates drop down add Tomorrow
In the new invoicing, invoice date, drop down has tomorrow as an option, but in the drop down for due date this is not an option and have to go in to manually select the date which is time consuming this is something we use for most of our invoices.
2 votesHi Carron, while not a direct selection for 'Tomorrow' you could enter a keyboard shortcut of 'T+1' to auto select Tomorrows date in the Due Date field.
Does this accommodate what you're in need of here?

Log on - Go straight to Dashboard
I would like to be able to go straight to Dashboard please!

Inventory - Increase all item prices by a percentage
An option to increase the price for ALL products in the database by a percentage.
11 votesHi community, our product team have started exploring some improvements in inventory in Xero with the ability to bulk update the sales price of inventory items by a percentage being one they've set their eyes on!
For now, we'll shift to Under review and I'll be back to share more when there's news 😊

Fixed Assets - Attach a file
Option to attach files to individual fixed assets
Purpose: Ease of reference, being able to attach files and documentation that related to an asset
660 votesHi everyone, we value your input to this idea and how adding files directly to a fixed asset in Xero would be of use and improve efficiency for our customers.
Noted in my last update - our team are now in the midst of building Fixed Assets with updated technology. We plan to begin releasing this in the latter part of this year.
Our product team have paid close attention to the requests related to Fixed Assets here in community as they develop, and we do have intentions of providing the ability to attach files to assets.
For now, we'll shift to Under review and I'll keep you updated when we're closer to making this available to you all.

Xero Central - Advertise Xero Product Ideas on the Support Page
OK so maybe it's obvious to you that Xero Product Ideas is under the 'Community' tab on xero central but can I suggest you mention it under 'Support' too, as that is where most people looking for help start?
I tried searching 'feature request', 'request' etc on support and in the end had to open a case to find out you had a whole Product Ideas thing - I didn't think to look under 'Community' as I wrongly assumed that was just discussion.
I can't be the only person who thought this way, especially when concerned about something that seems…14 votesHi all, we’ve now made Product Ideas available in Xero Central search, you’ll spot them in the results with their green label for “Product Idea” or you can filter your search under “What do you want to do?” to select “Share an idea”. 😁
As mentioned in our last update we’re also looking into making Product Ideas easier to find - we’ll update this idea once we’ve got more to share.

Search bar navigation
Many of my clients complain that they 'can't find what they are looking for' when using the top search bar facility. I too often struggle to find things unless I am specific and know the exact detail of a posting. A search return of more options would be very beneficial listing all transactions in relation to any word or value typed into the search bar.
4 votesAppreciate your feedback on search in Xero, Laura. When you say you'd like more options for search are than any specific fields of transactions that you and your clients might commonly search - this'll help when sharing back with the team.
If say, you'd search text generally in the description field of a transaction I'll merge your idea here in with this one where we can keep you all updated of any change all together.
