  1. Batch payments of Foreign Currency Bills.

    Dear Xero,
Please consider the feature of being able to batch up foreign currency Bills. We often pay multiple invoices in one go, having to reconcile and mark as paid 10 invoices is extremely time consuming.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the interest and we appreciate the needs for those using foreign currency to have more efficiency in how you process these bills for payment. Your feedback and votes here have not gone unnoticed - We have a team that have been doing some ground work in this space and at this time we have beta that we'd like to invite any UK customers to join and feedback to our team on the experience. If you'd like to be a part of this please fill in our form here and we'll be in touch.

We appreciate this idea is farther reaching than UK alone and while the beta is limited to this region for the time being, based on results we will look at expanding this to other places.

We'll keep you updated of further developments here.

Hi community, thanks for getting involved here and letting us know the importance around being able to see the details whenever an invoice is sent from Xero. We understand the importance of this to our customers and our product team are beginning to review this idea to solve needs in this space. We'll move to Under review and I'll let you know as there's more progress here. Thanks

  3. When choosing item code and description, I want the ability to leave the rest of the fields blank. Classic invoicing had no problems with it. The new invoicing wants to populate QTY, UNIT PRICE and AMOUNT. Makes the invoice look unappealing.

Thanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't…

  4. xero to xero Invoicing

We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.

On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).

Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?

    Thank you

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate all the feedback we've heard from our customers on their use of the Xero network and the importance this is for helping you move efficiently when using new invoicing. Where possible we highly encourage setting up and using eInvoicing as a solution which is wider reaching than just those businesses on Xero, and has more functionality.

In it's current state you can continue to send invoices using the Xero Network from the Awaiting payments list. That said, we've been listening closely and our product team are now considering development to incorporate sending invoices from Xero to Xero within new invoicing, as well as developing on this feature to enable attachments to be included when sending. We'll shift the idea to Under review for now and I'll share as there is more progression of this to update you on.

  5. Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.

    Or Better still

Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. More often than not it creates more work for us and causes more stress we just dont need in an…

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

  6. New invoicing is missing the ability to select the default due date that is against the customer. I had to change the invoice date for a customer with set payment terms of 30 days from the invoice date and there were several suggestions listed but the old option to reset to default date was missing.

Thanks for sharing and feeding back through this idea, community. While our team are reviewing the behaviours of date fields in new invoicing - It may help to clarify how due date works in conjunction with defaults to define how these are working in your organisation at present. Basically put, every time you change an Issue date this influences the Due date, which is a slight change to classic invoicing.

Currently, there are two defaults that can be set in Xero, within Invoice Settings and within an individual Contact records.

Invoice Settings due date is a blanket for any invoice raised in the org, if you set a Contact due date this will override the Invoice Settings due date when you select that Contact when invoicing.

When you change the Due date of an invoice, and then edit it's Issue date this will trigger any defaults you have set up…

  7. "Business and accounting" role needs ability to more narrowly define. I want an employee to access invoices (receivables) but that then gives them access to ALL financial reporting, e.g. P&L, which I don't want them to see.

Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct…

  8. The print date that now appears at the bottom of reports is useful for some reports and circumstances, and I understand this date is now turned off for Published Reports.

However we do not 'publish' our financial statements - we send our financial statements to clients in a practical and informative pack instead. This is a more efficient, professional and streamlined approach for us.

Showing the print date on these financial statements is of concern, due to various issues including the lag time between preparing and approving the report. It is also not ideal when preparing the directors resolution and…

It's good to know the small changes that can make a difference to our customers. Thank you for all sharing with us on the idea, here. Our team are looking into a solution at the organisation level, that'd enable you to remove the Date from footer for all reports exported to PDF. While they explore this we'll move the idea to Under review and I'll be back to share more as this moves along.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback and what would help you in the new invoicing experience. Currently our team are looking at possible keyboard shortcuts for drop down fields within new invoicing that'd enable you to more efficiently choose the action that was most suitable for you. As this firms up and we can give more detail of what this looks like I'll keep you updated, here.

  11. On classic invoicing, when you click the account category space or the tracking category it would fill in from the contact default, or account default or some default. But on new invoicing it only fills in if you tab.

We appreciate the feedback here. Trying to better understand the flow of how you enter data for your invoices - Atm, when you've added a contact with Sales defaults for Account, Tax rate or Tracking as soon as you enter a Qty. or Price these defaults will kick in and autofill the line. This works when either tabbing or clicking into fields.

Is it possible that where this behaviour is occurring for you is when there is no Qty. or Price in the line? If so, is there a particular reason you'd enter this information prior to entering Qty. or Price for a line?

  12. Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.

Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.

    Thanks

Sorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.

Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.

To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.

    We understand…

  13. When a selecting the new invoicing platform, you lose certain functions.
The first function that has been lost is the ability to copy invoice data to a purchase order - this feature needs to added to the new platform as some business use this to purchase items that have been sold from a supplier and makes sure there are no errors.
The second function is when invoicing from Project the time entered for that project is no longer being allocated to an invoice and showing in the project as not invoiced, this will cause doubling up on billing.

Hi community, I'm pleased to share with you that the Product team are investigating the first part of this idea - to copy invoice data to a purchase order in new invoicing. There's a few other bits of work lined up before they get to this but we'll be sure to return with an update on progress once there's more news 📰

As for the second function raised here, when you raise an invoice from Projects that includes tasks, time entries or expenses, if you change the project field on new invoicing the connection with Projects will be removed. To correct this, you can either void/delete the invoice and recreate it from the project or manually mark the time entry/task/cost as invoiced.

Thanks for your support and sharing in this idea, everyone. As we continue to develop new invoicing and how to help our customers get paid faster we're beginning to explore ideas like yours here - To enable more efficiencies in how you receive and pay for invoices with Xero. We'd like to invite those from AU on the idea here to participate in a pilot we're starting for being able to invoices via SMS with Xero. If you'd be interested in being involved please respond to my update here and I can share your details to our team who'll be in touch.

For the time being this is limited to customers using Xero in Australia, however we'll be sure to return and share where this work goes.

  16. We would like the ability to reconcile transactions against a statement in addition to just reconciling from the bank feeds.

There have been so many issues with bank feeds, that often we find the statement balance does not match Xero. The issue with running the reconciliation report is that some banks will have some transactions from the closing date in the current statement and some of them on the next statement. The only way for us to break it out and match the balance is to export transactions to a spreadsheet and then change the date of those transactions in…

We'll round back to share any progress with you all on the idea here.

  17. In the new invoicing, invoice date, drop down has tomorrow as an option, but in the drop down for due date this is not an option and have to go in to manually select the date which is time consuming this is something we use for most of our invoices.

  19. Previously draft invoices would show up on the contact page for each contact. They don't show up any more? Hopefully this is not a new feature (bug) with the new invoicing? Creating a new invoice for a contact without being able to see a draft invoice already exists without having to go back to the draft invoice page is not efficient/

Hi there, are you still noticing this behaviour? Having a test in the demo org, Draft invoices are shown in the Activity tab for a contact in both the All and Invoices tabs for transactions. If this is not the same behaviour that you're getting I'd recommend raising a case with our Xero Support team through Xero central who can get more detail to take a closer look into this with you 1-on-1. Thanks

  20. It appears the design for new invoicing defaults the account code to the original account code if there are no changes to the quantity and value entered. This is an issue where clients copy an invoice format from one period to another but are not certain at that stage as to the volume and value of product to be sold. .
