Invoicing - Use drag & drop to copy line details
Hi Xero Team , Kindly find attached file for your reference. I am sharing video file and screenshot that feature very useful for all user and copy above cell during invoice and bill generate. I am suggesting to IT team if they unlock drag and drop copy cell from above cell from mouse that feature would be very appreciated and may help to all user to easy invoicing and bill that help to time saving while enter multiple similar details in invoice or bill. I have also mentioned how to prevent accidental drag & drop cell with using ON/OFF button…

New Invoicing - Copy invoice to keep existing email
Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.
Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.
Thanks
5 votesSorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.
Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.
To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.

Assigning invoice when sent to xero email
It would be helpful to assign an account to an email sent to Xero containing a receipt (similar to how this is possible in the mobile app).
1 voteHi Lauren, just to make sure I understand your idea here correctly. Would this be when using Xero's email to bills feature, or just generally when sending a file to the files inbox?

Bills - Enter days for bills due
Hi
Please can we have the ability to change the settings on suppliers bills due date to move than 31 days of the following month. We have several suppliers where we do not need to pay until 60 days after the end of the month in which the bill is issued.
Thank you
2 votesThanks for sharing here, Karen. To just get a better understanding would this be when creating a new bill, or perhaps a repeating bill? It'll be handy when sharing back with the team.
You could set up defaults in your Contacts to auto enter the due date for example as 60 days after the end of the invoice month, or similarly with a repeating bill you could set this up in the template.

Bank Rules - Ability to set Date as a criteria
It would be great to have the date of bank transactions as a criteria field when creating a rule. When we are paid by the ESFA, the amounts we receive at the beginning of the month have a different nominal to those received later in the month. In Sage we could set a rule as 'between 2 dates'
2 votesHi Sarah, when a bank rule is applied it'll use the date of the statement line to apply to the transaction it creates so you don't need to set this within the rule itself. Or are you saying you'd like to set the date of the transaction that's going to be created when the bank rule is applied?

Financial reports - Insert blank rows
Insert blank row in customised financial reports to separate different groups..
9 votesHi Karen, could you edit the report to create groups that would show this separation?

Project supplier invoices
Scenario - Multiple projects open. If materials are purchased at eg a builders merchants for mutliple projects on one invoice/receipt, it's not possible to allocate the spend to individual projects which is madness. It seems that the total invoice/receipt must be assigned to ONE particular project. When materials are bought, it's often far cheaper to buy them in bulk, hence buying for more than one project at the same time. It should be possible to therefore assign individual lines on the invoice to a particular project (a bit like tracking).
4 votesHi Clare, if you're adding an expense from within a project, it's expected that the expense you're creating is related to the Project you're in. You could create a Bill within the Bills to pay area where you can assign individual lines of your bill to different Projects.

Contacts - View suppliers and customers at the same time
I would like to be able to see Customers and Suppliers on the top bar, without having to first go into contacts, this would make looking up customers or suppliers easier with less delay. I often select the wrong one in error and then it takes even longer.
1 voteHi Helen, did you know you can search a contact from the 🔍icon in the blue banner? This will avoid having to go all the way to contacts and find the contact there 😊

Chart of accounts - Enable payments in bulk
Enable payments to a GL account.
It would be awesome if there was a quicker way to enable/disable payments to an account. Or have an additional column on the COA so it's easy to see which have payments enabled. Alternatively, be able to run a report on this.1 voteHi Lauren, you could export the Chart of accounts to be able to view which accounts have 'Yes' in the 'Enable Payments column. It's also possible to import this option in bulk, however I'd highly recommend doing a test in the demo company to ensure this'll work as you intend when importing back into the organisation.
Would this achieve what you're in need of here?

New Invoicing - Move Save button to bottom of invoice like classic
Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.
Or Better still
Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. More often than not it creates more work for us and causes more stress we just dont need in an…232 votesHi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

New Invoicing - Alert if the contact has available credit
In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.
Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.
120 votesHi community, we appreciate all the feedback you've shared on how we can improve new invoicing for your needs.
In relation to the alert of available credit as raised in this idea, we've identified there are a few situations for Invoice only users where the available credit pop up isn't being shown. This is something we have plans to fix, and while I can't give a specific date on the idea here, we want you to know this is important to us and I'll keep you updated on progress here.

Invoicing - Allow Item and Description-only lines, with no Qty or Unit Price
When choosing item code and description, I want the ability to leave the rest of the fields blank. Classic invoicing had no problems with it. The new invoicing wants to populate QTY, UNIT PRICE and AMOUNT. Makes the invoice look unappealing.

519 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't… -

Inventory - Increase all item prices by a percentage
An option to increase the price for ALL products in the database by a percentage.
13 votesHi community, our product team have started exploring some improvements in inventory in Xero with the ability to bulk update the sales price of inventory items by a percentage being one they've set their eyes on!
For now, we'll shift to Under review and I'll be back to share more when there's news 😊

Xero Central - Advertise Xero Product Ideas on the Support Page
OK so maybe it's obvious to you that Xero Product Ideas is under the 'Community' tab on xero central but can I suggest you mention it under 'Support' too, as that is where most people looking for help start?
I tried searching 'feature request', 'request' etc on support and in the end had to open a case to find out you had a whole Product Ideas thing - I didn't think to look under 'Community' as I wrongly assumed that was just discussion.
I can't be the only person who thought this way, especially when concerned about something that seems…16 votesHi all, we’ve now made Product Ideas available in Xero Central search, you’ll spot them in the results with their green label for “Product Idea” or you can filter your search under “What do you want to do?” to select “Share an idea”. 😁
As mentioned in our last update we’re also looking into making Product Ideas easier to find - we’ll update this idea once we’ve got more to share.

AU - Manually edit AU GST on transactions
In Australia, users need to be able to manually edit the amount of GST paid on a transaction. This is required because certain transactions (particularly grocery and pharmacy transactions) have a mixture of items, some of which have GST applied, and some that do not. Unfortunately, the receipts for these types of transactions do not indicate which specific items have incurred GST - they just have a total amount of GST paid on that receipt. As such, it would be great if users could just override the total amount of GST paid for those receipts. See attached for an example…

User Role - Access to specific feature only
"Business and accounting" role needs ability to more narrowly define. I want an employee to access invoices (receivables) but that then gives them access to ALL financial reporting, e.g. P&L, which I don't want them to see.
434 votesHi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct… -
Contacts Ledgers - Ability to pull more than one Contact's ledger at a time
Currently, you are able to pull the Contact Transactions Summary and ledger for only one contact at a time.
If you can add the ability to pull more than one contact's transactions at a time, it would be great. It should work the same as "Account Transactions" where you choose the accounts you want to pull, just for Contacts.
6 votesHi Elizna, you can run the Receivable or Payable invoice detail reports for multiple contacts at a time. Is there something specific about the Contact Transactions Summary that's missing from these reports that you'd want included ?

Project - Multiple contacts
Multiple contacts on a Project. Projects can currenlty only be built and linked to 1 contact at a time. However. in terms of training and events where there could be multiple contacts linked this is an issue. If Xero could add the option for multiple contacts this would be great. It would save all my issues in terms of tracking a job.
22 votesHi Megan, when your talk about the training and events could you explain a bit more of your business flow when using Projects?
Atm, you can create bills and invoices for different contacts and associated these transactions with a single project.

Xero - Reduce white space
There seems to be a lot of white space on each page. An accounting system really needs to show concise, compact, neat lines so it is easy to compare figures without having to scroll up and down all the time. I feel that Xero is more interested in the look of the screen, when really the information is the most important part of an accounting system.
The important information seems to start half way down the screen!
11 votesHi Karen, appreciate you shared this feedback sometime ago. Looping back to better understand your idea here - Is there a specific part of Xero you find shows too much white space?
This will help when sharing your feedback with our product teams internally.

Bills | Export summary
Ability to export bills with one line per bill showing the Invoice Total rather than showing each line entered for each bill.
10 votesHi Jenny and Michelle, you can run and export the Payable Invoice Summary report to get this information.
If this isn't suitable, could you explain bit more of what you'd like to use this information for? It may help in trying to find a solution that'll work for you both. Thanks
