    Thanks for collectively sharing your feedback on showing more statement lines when reconciling a bank account in Xero. Being one of the top supported in Xero Product Ideas currently, we do want to give you an update and set the right expectation.

    We began the release of our modernised Bank reconciliation experience in 2021. In reaction to customer feedback and testing we’re continuing to enhance the experience, such as introducing the compact view.

    As shared through our building on beautiful article -  work behind the scenes is extensive and not all visible but is where a lot of the team's resources are focused for the time being. While these developments can take time, we’re beginning to think on the next pieces of the puzzle and start investigating opportunities.

  2. In the new format Bank Reconciliation report, can we please add a 'select' option for the bank account field, similar to the 'Account Transactions' report and how we can 'select' multiple CoA codes to look at at the same time?

    I have a client that has 30+ bank accounts, and having to run the bank reconciliation report 30 times to check if they are reconciling/have errors is very painful.

    Appreciate the amount of feedback and support from you all in this idea leading up to the retirement of Xero's older reports in July. It's been really good to hear and consider how we can best accommodate our customers needs.

    Monitoring use and feedback, we're currently working on a change for the new Bank Reconciliation Summary that'll allow you to add individual Bank Reconciliation Summary reports for each of your bank accounts in a single pack. We'll share with you here, when we deliver this change!

  3. Currently a client can upload a number of invoices and then create a batch payment for these invoices. When they make a payment for 1 of the invoices in the batch, you have to remove and redo the payment then match the separate invoice up, and then recreate the batch payment, excluding the amount which has now been paid. Would be easier if like with invoices, the batch payment could be split, saving the new to remove and then recreate the batch payment.

  4. General Ledger Exception Report

    Getting new updates and new reports is fine but can you please keep this GL Exception report (old version) or else make arrangements to create the same report in the updated versions of General Ledger Reports.

    This report is very useful and crucial for setting up work papers.

    Thanks for your support and rating of the idea here, community.

    While there's 'building on beautiful' work across Bank Reconciliation pages at present, the team have also been making improvements to improve and increase automation when reconciling your accounts. Though this doesn't directly relate to sort and filter capability, this should help improve your experience when reconciling accounts with Xero -  doing more of the heavy lifting for you by matching or suggesting reconciliations.

    Being open, the platform in it's current form cannot cater for sort or filtering through all statement lines in an account (some businesses that have 000's of unreconciled lines!) which is where the building on beautiful work is critical - However, we're exploring possible improvements that could make navigating through unreconciled lines simpler such as bringing the navigation to the top of the page and increasing the number of statement lines that are shown…

    Hi everyone, thanks for joining and supporting this idea.

    We understand there are a few different use cases for why you'd like to attach a file to an asset within the Fixed Assets register, as well as transactions themselves.


    To be upfront our team's current focus, like many areas of Xero, is on upgrading Fixed Asset technology, as we build greater consistency between Xero experiences, making it easier to learn and navigate Xero. Some of these changes may seem minor, but are critical in terms of delivering new and exciting value later on.

    That being said, our team is researching what comes next and this is a focus because it is the most supported idea for Fixed Assets right now.


    As we continue forming the future of Fixed Assets in Xero, we'll share if there’s any updates.

  7. At the moment, you need to raise a credit note to write off a bad debt, which then records the invoice as "paid" which is extremely irksome, and factually incorrect. There needs to be an actual "write off" option so that the debts don't show up constantly in your reports and you can claim a tax deduction for them, but they don't get recorded as paid.

    Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.

    Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.

    We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

    Hi team, as noted (thanks Geoff) we're leveraging Xero's existing eInvoicing capabilities for this work which is the reason it'll only be an option within the regions that have the Peppol network available.

    As this is adopted by more bodies across the world, in turn the availability of this feature would naturally broaden, too - Read more through our Blog

    As of today, AU and NZ Xero accounts registered to receive eInvoices can join the Beta to have their subscription invoices sent via eInvoicing - check out this Xero Central article to find out how to opt in.

  9. Allow users the ability to import and export bank rules.

    Thanks for all the attention and support this idea has collected, everyone. While we've made improvements to some of the screens in Bank Rules, we're still considering where others changes could be made, and it's helpful to see the traction on this idea.

    With the new Bank Rules list view you'll find that you can now Search making it a little easier to group and manage your rules from within Xero. We're also enhancing the suggestions and auto matching when you reconcile which overtime will help to decrease the amount of rules a business may need.

    We understand how being able to export rules would add another level to managing rules outside of Xero, and importing of rules would ease setups and we'll keep this idea front of mind and re-evaluate the interest when resource frees up to consider additional features.

  10. Currently, when preparing financial statements or other reports in Xero, you have to export the report to PDF to work out if you will need to insert page breaks to keep all related content on one page, or to ensure that a heading doesn't end up on one page and the information on the next. This can sometimes mean exporting a report multiple times if there are multiple page breaks required.

  12. We desperately need an audit trail report available for advisors.

    I think it would be sufficient to have the below added to the account transactions report style (but named as Audit Trail):
    1 - the ability to include an 'edited date' column
    2 - the ability to include a 'notes' column
    3 - a tick box to show/hide audit trail history (so voids would show as separate creation and void lines netting off, not just removal of the original transaction)
    4 - a unique un-editable transaction identifier for all transactions, not just bills/invoices

  13. Under current simplified depreciation rules, small businesses deduct the balance of the small business pool at the end of the income year if the balance at that time (before applying the depreciation deductions) is less than the instant asset write-off threshold.

    Currently Xero's pool does not apply this rule & continues depreciating at 30%. It would be great to have a product update so the correct application of current tax rules applys to the pooling system in Xero.

    Appreciate the traction this idea's gained - Thanks for your support, everyone.

    Our Fixed Asset product team are working on upgrades to Fixed Assets platform and updating technology - Read more on this broader work on Xero Central

    We understand how having an automated control to recognise and apply a write-off for general pooled assets where the balance is beneath the threshold would be useful, this is not in our roadmap right now.

    That said, they have a close eye on ideas for Fixed Assets for when the time's right - we'll share any change on the idea, here.

  14. On 31 July 2023 my old Trial Balance that shows the current movement per the months selected as well as the YTD figures will be discontinued. It will be replaced by a Trial balance that only shows the YTD figures and the comparative figures with the previous year. That doesn't help me at all when I have to do a monthly management report and can only see the YTD figures. I'm begging you, don't discontinue the old Trial Balance report! Or at least give me the option between displaying YTD figures and the movement for a specific period.

    Appreciate the response and detail from you both in this - I can see what you're after and the difference between what's available at present. 

    We'll continue to consider this as we keep developing but there is no direct work for this to share just atm. 

  15. I would like to be able to add any available report into a practice Report Pack. At the moment, the available reports are limited to those within the Financial Statement realm.

    I would like to produce a report pack that had all the reports i need for my annual working papers:
    - Employee wage summary
    - Bank Rec
    - Tax depreciation report
    - GST rec reports

    etc etc.

  16. Would like a report showing a list of bank account number changes. This would show original bank account number, new bank account number, contact's name, date the bank account number was amended and who amended the bank account number and to be able to print this as a pdf. This would be of great benefit because of fraud and also our Auditor has asked if we can produce a list of bank account number changes for a selected period.

  18. We would like the ability to reconcile transactions against a statement in addition to just reconciling from the bank feeds.

    There have been so many issues with bank feeds, that often we find the statement balance does not match Xero. The issue with running the reconciliation report is that some banks will have some transactions from the closing date in the current statement and some of them on the next statement. The only way for us to break it out and match the balance is to export transactions to a spreadsheet and then change the date of those transactions in…

    Thanks for these use cases it definitely helps when sharing back the needs of the idea here with our teams internally. Being upfront there are no plans at present for developing the ability to auto import a copy of the bank statement when importing feeds, or means to separately reconcile against statements versus what's been imported to your b bank account in Xero.
