NZ GST - Add Publish Function to new style GST report
Hi
I would like to request that we keep the publish button on the new GST layout. The new GST Return layout does not have the Publish to Reports function (this has been removed). The Publish Function is an important function for clients, bookkeepers and auditors to access all relevant publish reports in one place.
Hi community, appreciate your feedback on the new GST return and detail of how the Publish feature is useful to you. While we don't have immediate plans for developing this in the new return, this is something we're monitoring and will consider as a future improvement. If there is any change around this we'll share this with you all through the idea here.

All valid comments folks. But with only 146 votes to change we are chasing our tails I think sadly.
Once again the people who use xero and its reports as an vital part of our business are not listened to. -

Seriously Xero, you take away features we have been using successfully for yrs and give us new features we didn't ask for. Publishing GST returns is a basic essential reporting tool used by all Accountants and Bookkeepers, so why remove it?
-
Kathy Skinner commented
Agree @Heather - it seems they're using the moving to a new platform as an excuse to not bring things across which should be moving over with future improvements made/considered. Xero appear to be going backwards with all these changes to new versions of things in some cases.

How is removing a feature an "improvement"? We have used the publish feature for years as a way to save finalised reports in a place where all users can easily find them. What's the logic for taking that away?
-
James Khare commented
Saving GST report under new GST report layout as excel or pdf format simply takes extra time and memory capacity.

Sad that we have to request a feature to be added which has just been taken away! The new reports are a definite downgrade on the old ones and is hard for us to understand why the GST return has been downgraded? Xero, your products are generally great but if you are going to change something at least make it better!

Agree wholeheartedly. I sent the latest return for review and there were 84 pages to it for the GM to go through. Absolutely hideous layout. Why they changed to landscape I have no idea. It was embarrassing to say that is was 84 pages long.
Way too much white space and way too big a gap between lines.
They must all be half blind that they need something bigger to look at. -

Agree, Georgie,
The GST process is taking a lot longer here as well this period than it did in the past. Bring back the efficiency of the publish function, as well as the audit trail benefits. -
Georgie Heath-Johnson commented
Please reinstate the publish option - this has created much extra work this period!

Missing the publish button - so critical, please bring it back!

I agree with everything above.
But lets face it, the powers that BE at Xero are just not listening to us.
Its such a shame we have to fight for a feature to be bought that we have used for years and now all of a sudden has disappeared.
PLEASE XERO - can you reinstate the publish feature for us. -
Kathy Skinner commented
It is a pain to have to export returns to keep a copy of what you file, auditors use the Published reports to view returns and it is so much quicker for them to view there especially if changes are needed to what has been filed.
Pretty sure none of these so called IT people even consider the implications of the changes they make that actually take away functionality or what is needed in every day accounts let alone when Audits are done. -

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE restore "Publish" function for GST Return. It's a way of keeping records of previous returns. Sometimes, we may need to make amendment on previous GST Returns, and the Published Reports can keep the old records and new records to easily show the differences.

Why is it you continually remove functionality that was there when you "improve" new versions, i do not understand how that is a positive move !
-
Leo Liu commented
It is a very useful tool, keep GST return records.

Fully agree Diane & Paul.
This has created extra steps this month when producing GST Returns and now we are missing this from the client's audit trail record in published reports.
Please provide us with the functionality that we had before the update. Also, please put the client's name on the exported PDF file name - again something we had before the update.

I do not think this should be considered as a FURTURE IMPROVEMENT. It was already a feature and you made it unavailable. I think this is a fix that should be done to restore how it was.
-
Paul Wright commented
We also need this function - it is critical to our work as well.

Where is XPAC in all of this?
"Through open discussions, industry insights and actionable feedback, XPAC members seek to make a difference to Aotearoa New Zealand Xero partners, small businesses and their communities." -

Debbie a great idea.
Come on Xero stop stalling and do something your users want/need.
It seems to me all you do is issue meaningless "stall" responses to user requests. How about a unique and new approach - do something users need and want rather than issuing stalling response emails.
