  1. When viewing the contents of files in the inbox, I currently have to close the file in order to be able to open and view the text of the email that it was sent with. I would like the email text to be an optional sidebar when viewing the contents of the file, so that I can see both the contents of the file and the context of why it was sent and who by at the same time.

  2. When printing newly created checks it would be nice to have the ability to easily select all for just those new checks by marking all previously printed checks as having already been printed instead of either having to check the box next to each check you want to print or by doing a search by date (if you print checks once daily) to be able to then select all to print.

  3. On bills awaiting payment and payment batches having a way to copy the amount that is not formatted so that it can be pasted directly into bank payment amount fields. At the moment the value is formatted with commas "1,200" which cannot be copied directly to a bank payment page.

  4. When Activity Statements are connected to the ATO, running the Activity Statement report shows no information throughout the quarter.
    As we like to put aside GST through the quarter ready to pay at the BAS lodgement, we would like to see a running tally of outstanding amount owed to the ATO throughout the quarter whilst still connected to the ATO.

  5. Edit email address when sending a quote to clients. We have clients who have multiple employees requesting quotes, the updated version means I have type out the whole email address instead of amending the name at the start.

  6. Being a start-up company we claim R&D refund as part of our tax return. In order to support R&D activities we need to work out employee remuneration and hours to support our claims. Currently, Xero does not have any R&D reports that we can use. Hence, I am wondering whether the Tech team at Xero can include two fields (Column options) in the existing report "Payment Summary Details".

    The fields required are 1) Superannuation 2) Units (worked hours)

    Then we can export this report to work on our R&D claims. Thank you

  7. Need a process to close month end. After this process has been executed the month is locked and changes are not posted to it unless we unlock it first. This feature is available in other accounting packages

  9. Tier 3 cash flow statement needs to refer to "bank accounts and cash" per XRB requirements not "cash and cash equivalents". Xero reports do not permit these line descriptions to be edited on their cash flow statement.

  10. Could there please be a facility to post journals between contacts (either supplier or customer) for example between BT Telecom and EDF energy
    Currently there is only the facility to post journals between nominal ledger codes.

    Hi Julie, could you explain a little more the scenarios in which you'd be looking to make use of a this sort of functionality?

    At present - if the transactions has originally be assigned to the wrong contact this can be edited. 

    Understanding more of the use case may help us find another solution for you here, although I don't want to be open that we don't have plans for enabling transfers between contacts. 

  11. In our old system, before we moved to Xero, we could highlight special clients (they were a different colour). In our case, they were special because they paid their account off in instalments, instead of paying a lump sum. This made it very easy for us to separate them when we sent invoice reminders to the rest of our clients. How we have to do it in Xero now is clunky and manual. :)

When creating purchase orders, having a large list of products, we are finding it difficult to identify the items we want to select because only the item codes show without the item descriptions. (Both the item code and descriptions show when creating invoices and quotes). Would it be possible for the drop-down selections in the purchase orders to show both the item codes and the descriptions?

  15. Change the wording "add receipt" on the Xero app.

    Many clients use the Xero app and they go to add a new bill but they see the words add a receipt so they automatically think this is a bill so add here. It then creates payment files which I have to manually undo. Can the wording be changed to "add bill/ receipt" and "add receipt of payment" or something similar.

  17. In MYOB it is possible to record transactions as GST Not Registered (GNR). This reports it and enables proper accounting of GST obligations when dealing with small suppliers that are not registered for GST. I can see why many companies don't like to deal with such suppliers ! I was hoping there was such a method in Xero

  18. The ISO 3166 country name for "United Kingdom" is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the)", which is 58 characters. We are currently unable to use this name for our contacts as Xero throws an error (both in the UI and API).

    Please consider increasing the country name maximum length to at least 60 characters.

  20. I receive bills into xero from some suppliers. The suppliers don't know how to represent the bill for our use so it would be good if we could create a rule to apply to a bill so it can be coded correctly. This is most obvious when receiving invoices from a company that we have an account with. They might code the item as 1 item at $xx, whereas we want to code it as yy items @ $dd and I want to associate an item with the expense. I see this all the time with my Ampol fuel account.…

    Hi Stephen, appreciate there maybe differences between how you may code something to how a client/contact you trade with. 


    From the sounds, Contact and Inventory items defaults maybe suitable and enable you to enter the default account and tax that should be applied to items or used when dealing with specific contacts. 


    We'll track the interest in rules for bills here but being quite a change to the way Bank Rec works at present we don't have direct plans for this.
