Invoices - invoice a percentage of a task
Having the ability to invoice a percentage of each task in a project.
Our company invoices as a job progresses e.g 20% of one task is completed the first month, and then 50% has been completed the following month.
At this stage, I am only able to apply a 'discount' to alter the amount invoiced (while still maintaining the full contract amount on the invoice as a reference to clients). When doing this, it also marks that task as invoiced and I am unable to further invoice. The only alternative to this, is invoicing for a project amount and still applying the discount.
This is a very convoluted way to invoice and causes messy reporting.
Is this something we cna look at adopting in XERO projects?

We would also like to be able to do this. Currently we add a line to quote with description of percentage and new total, however there's no way of knowing balance without doing our own calculations. We are a construction company that invoices on partial completion and have to keep making notes in history to remember its only been partially invoiced.
Surely it's not that hard to add a column where you can detract a percentage of the invoice and then it still shows remaining balance. -

This is also very important for us too. We almost always invoice a task in several portions as the job progresses. It makes for very messy reporting and impossible on glance to see what's left to invoice.

100%! Being able to raise multiple invoices on any given task in a project is essential to my business.

As a service-based business (graphic design), 99% of my business is done on, at a minimum, a 2-payment basis (deposit and final payment). Many jobs involve several milestone payments. Creating multiple invoices for one job is not ideal, to put it mildly. The inconvenience factor aside, it totally negates your "hey! make your life simple and just convert a quote to an invoice!" nifty sound bite on your quotes. Please do take care of this!!

Xero seem to ignore requests for this, it has been raised many times before, see link below with 151 votes and still no action from Xero?:
