In Australia, if your company wants to offer training services for a recognized Qualification, like an Apprenticeship or Traineeship, and (in particular) claim the associated subsidies from the Government, then the RTO Company must be registered with the Government training/education department.

Under that system, the RTO company has a contract with the department, which stipulates in detail the matters that the RTO’s operation must comply with.

In Qld State, the contract requires that the RTO’s data be warehoused in Australia. A strict reading of the clause includes the financial data related to our Students, which is held in the RTO’s Accounting system.

As a result, any RTO providing services in Qld basically cannot use Xero.

If a Xero subscriber had the ability to specify that it’s data be warehoused at an Australian, then Australian RTO’s (especially those providing Qld accredited services) could use Xero.
