Navigation - Freeze bar at the top of the page to save scrolling
Can the main pull down bar (Dashboard, Business, Accounting, Projects, Contacts) be fixed at the top of the page? When viewing a screen that has 100 or more lines, it would be a lot more convenient to have immediate access to this than having to scroll all the way back up.
Thanks for your engagement here, Charl. While not a complete solution you may find the use of the 'Home' button on your keyboard helps you quickly navigat back up the page 🙂

Can we please have the top blue header menu (i.e. the one with Dashboard, Business, Accounting etc) fixed at the top of the screen so that when I scroll down it stays at the top of the screen - especially on the reconciliation screen?

Could the main blue Xero bar at the top of the page with all the options on stay fixed at the top so even if you are at the bottom of the page you can choose where to go next rather than having to scroll back to the top of the page each time?

A pretty rudimentary software feature.....I wonder sometimes if the developers even use the software.

Make the blue header at the top (ie blue row showing company name and menu items) a sticky header.

Please freeze the top two banners so that we can navigate the file without scrolling or tabbing to the top everytime. This would be useful when searching, looking through a large list of AP or AR or reconciling, payroll reports and to go to another client file - and to remind us which client file we are in on a busy day !!

Now that we can have 50 transactions in a bank account, it would be nice if you could pin the top of the screen so we can click on the Dashboard, Business, Accounting, Contacts, etc. tabs even if we're at the bottom of the page so we don't have to scroll all the way back up.

What about freezing the Bank Account name under the blue bar ... so while reconciling you can easily see which bank account you are working on without losing your place, especially when you are reconciling transfers between accounts and you have multiple tabs open, one for each bank account.

1. The ability to pin/unpin or the permanent pinning of the Xero Menu (the blue bar at the top of the Xero page) in all pages of Xero. This will help us to easily navigate and use the Search bar at the upper right of the Xero Menu. Easier navigation, meaning opening links from the Menu in another tab for easier multi tasking.
This will make bank reconciliation and reporting easier, and we do not need to scroll up for longer time just to go back to the Xero Menu or use the Search Bar.
2. You can also have an icon called (Back to Top of the Page) added at the bottom right of the page whenever user are scrolling down which will enable users to reach the top of the page quickly. This is in the new bank reconciliation page.
Realizing that the upgraded bank reconciliation (in which we are not subjected to 10 pages per transaction anymore and contains up to 50 items now) had us scrolling longer time to reach the top of the page. A link at the bottom can ease access to the Menu and Search Bar

The blue menu bar at the top of each tab. Can this be frozen at the top of each tab. This will then be easily accessible. For example, the bank reconciliation now has 50 lines to a page. When want to create a bill, invoice, search contact you have too scroll to the top of the page.

Completely agree - I've raised this query myself. Seems like a quick win so not sure why not implemented yet...

I Agree with Mike Mori. Xero great for new start ups . Not so good for users of established businesses. Accountants love it because like Sage in the old days it is rigid. They can get the standard reports without deviation their staff don't have to think. Users have to work within the business they are in, after over 50 years of working in various industries I can categorically state no 2 businesses are the same. Accounts have to be to a certain format but as the users are the ones doing the work things such as finding themselves on a random unrelated page when using the back button is an irritating, frustrating waste of time. Xero has quite a few such quirks that I find very strange in 2024 when desktop software was more more sophisticated even in 1999 when I was introduced to QuickBooks Desktop. Progress? Hardly.

@Kelly Munro. I have been a XERO-only practice and converted over 250 businesses from MYOB, Quickbooks, Sage and Excel onto Xero since December 2007 - 17 years ago. I am so grateful that the system is probably the most accounting-wise robust and reliable and has impressive features that most users are not aware of, BUT, "the little foxes that spoil the vines" - Song of Solomon 2:15-17. These small things spoil the user experience for Bookkeepers, not Accountants. Why do I say this? Accountants typically run reports while bookkeepers enter and process the data so accountants can run the reports. Bookkeepers don't have the time to write posts like this, so they don't. This gives Xero the false security that everything is fine and only a few complain. Rant complete.

....and the "End" button (and Page-up/down) to go to the bottom of the screen, but that does not solve the problem. I appreciate that we want the maximum screen space to be able to work, but any half-decent website designer can build a menu banner that disappears when you are working and appears when you attempt to scroll up. I am positive that if Xero commissioned the 1000-odd engineers who work at Xero to come up with a solution and offered them a free bar lunch as a prize, someone would provide a solution. Maybe even OPEN-AI will do it for them.

Hi @Kelly Munro
Sadly, not all keyboards have a home key, especially if you're using a laptop.

Include a floating 'Back to Top' button so that when at the bottom of a long list of entries, say in a Project, it is easier to get back to the top of the screen to then proceed to invoice out for the expenses added.

The fact that the Blue navigation bar does not stay at the top of the page is annoying and time consuming. I am seriously considering moving away from xero.

Yes. Having the menu fixed to the top of the screen is essential, and it isn't hard to do either. I did it on my own Webflow site. And if I can do it, any idiot can. Make it so, Xero!

I agree, having it at the bottom of a long report is irritating
