Navigation - More quick links to speed up data entry
I migrated from QB Desktop to Xero last year, and whilst Xero produces the accounts etc perfectly well I find processing book-keeping data takes me around 20% longer than it used to. Here are a few ideas which would speed this up:
1. Have a button to scroll to next or last invoice, bill, journal etc rather than having to look at a transaction, then go back to the list to see the next transaction.
2. Allow a default bank account to be set up for e.g. payments, receipts etc
3. Able to use + - buttons to increase / decrease date by a day
3. Able to set default date to the one used in the previous transaction rather than always defaulting to today
4. Add more functions to the + menu e.g. debtor receipts, bills to pay, or allow users to add their own functions to that menu.

Hi Charlie, thanks for sharing changes we could make to Xero to improve your efficiency when using our features.
Taking on board your feedback there are a few existing options that I wanted to highlight that could accommodate some of the points raised.
- We've added quick view options within bills that allows you quickly review and edit bills from the list view and move onto the next without navigating away from the list at all.
- For Draft sales invoices you'll also find an option from the 'Approve and email' button to drop down to choose 'Approve and view next'
- While it's not possible to set a default bank account for payments and receipts atm we have another idea for this that I've added your vote for so if there are any updates you'll hear, there
- There are existing keyboard shortcuts that can be used across Xero for date entry you can see these all in our Xero Central article
- While transaction dates will default to today in the invoice or bill date field, you can set defaults for the due date from Invoice Settings, or individually on Contact records. Keyboard date entry shortcuts should also help reduce the manual clicks involved.
- Along with this you may also find in bills using tools like Upload or email to bills saves you extra time with Xero extracting data from the file to auto create draft bills for you.
- From the '+' menu in the navigation you'll see you can quickly create a bill, invoice, spend or receive money we appreciate there are some users that would be interested in creating credit notes, or expense claims from this menu and we have ideas you can join for each of these here and here respectively
I hope these tips help, and we're always keen to hear more on how we can keep improving Xero for your use, however in order for us to get a sense of others in community that are interested in a specific change we ask that each post be related to a single feature improvement. 😊Thanks
