  1. VAT Only Transactions - Xero to remove needless restriction to have VAT amount less than line total. This will allow posting zero net with VAT amount to 20%EXP VAT code with a total equal to the VAT total without having to reply on VAT on imports tax code.

    Hi community, we don't have any plans to remove change the behaviour here. However, to confirm you can enter a 100% VAT invoice and we have an article that details how to do this. Essentially, you'll enter the invoice using two transaction lines, which when followed will:

    • Show a 100% VAT total on the invoice
    • Have 0.00 effect on the account code balance.

    Please note that both lines will show on the invoice PDF.

  2. I've noticed that Xero is retiring classic invoicing, and that the Xero to Xero link option is not available in New Invoicing. Xero to Xero is an important feature for many of our clients especially in groups where there is intra-group invoicing with many items on an invoice this saves a lot of time! Please add Xero to Xero to new invoicing. I also want to ask if Xero to Xero can please automatically attach the pdf version of the invoice to the bill created in the opposite entity as this does not happen automatically.

    Hi Michael, we have an idea for Xero to Xero in new invoicing and want to be open that this isn't something we'll be building into new invoicing however there is still a way to use this feature. You can have a read of my full post on the idea.

    In relation to your second idea around auto attaching the PDF of an invoice when it's created as a bill in the recipients organisation. I'll slightly amend your idea for this here and we can get a sense of the appetite for this.

  3. On the Dashboard can Awaiting Payment, Display Current Month and Future as Two Separate Lines. At first glance we want to see what is happening this month, for example are the Receivables greater than Payables this month. Currently the Totals include all future Receivables and Payables. This is difficult especially when Directors are viewing via Mobile, although it's still a problem via PC.

  4. When emailing a sales invoice which has a credit note applied, the basic email template text should quote the amount owed MINUS the amount of the credit note. The email is incorrect with regard to the amount owed, and customers often erroneously overpay.

  5. When resizing my browser window, many of the Xero screens (including Bills, Timesheets, Invoices) do not resize. Instead they chop off on the right hand side. There is not even the option of a slider to get over to the right.

    I have tested this across two browsers IE and Chrome. Frequently I am working on a laptop with a small screen and this is really annoying. I would rather they scale up or down when I make my browser larger or smaller.

  7. It would be useful if Xero could show when a subcontractor is verified with HMRC, due to the two year verification rule.

    If the date of verification could be shown on a report that would be great, then it would be easy to identify if a re-verification is required.

  8. Permanent inventory item on a specific invoice template

    For example, we are an automotive repair shop
    If I was to have a specific invoice template for 'vehicle servicing' and would like every service invoice to come up with Sundries and Freight automatically

    This would be a great way to save time as well as making sure everything is being charged out correctly

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in the idea here. While we don’t have immediate work planned for adding the ability to enable permanent items within an invoice template, as mentioned in my last update an option for now would be to create a 'dummy' contact that you could create invoices for and leave in a draft status. When you want to use that invoice as the template you can then use the copy to option.

    On a separate note, our teams are doing some more discovery to better understand our invoicing users and we wanted to engage you all here. 

    As we continue to plan further developments within invoicing, our product teams would like to better understand our invoicing users for future improvements.   9. I have to create a biill with about 60 line items which contain a mix of duplicate and variable information. As there's no way to duplicate line items in bills, I employed a workaround by exporting Xero's inbuilt bills template file 'BillTemplate.csv'. In Excel I was then able to quickly and easily create 60 copies of the same line item, make the changes necessary and import the csv file into Xero which successfully created the bill containing the 60 line items - thus saving me hours of wasted time.

  11. The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
    Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?

  12. Find and Recode - Contact Groups: I have a need for recoding transactions to add or correct tracking categories based on contact groups.   14. Not being able to enter an item # in quotes: This is a bad flaw in your software for people selling services and should be fixed. I People doing custom project services will not want to create new "products" every time they do a custom quote, they just want to add Item 1, 2, 3 and start typing work description

  15. Just wanted to feedback some issues found during brief testing of Hubdoc (as potential replacement for Dext; we'll not be proceeding at this stage) ... here's what we found:
    - different naming conventions - “Credit Note/Refund” equivalent (not sure what it is?) not as intuitive
    - for multi-line entries, it doesn’t tell you what the remaining balance on a bill is (it does provide running total of lines entered but requires external 'calc' action)
    - clunkier on mobile phone - have to log in each time whereas Dext is just snap and go
    - no option to do multiple page…

    Appreciate your feedback, Rich. It really helps if each idea you is raised separately. This way others know exactly what they're adding their vote for here in community, our product teams can get a sense of interest in a particular feature and we can keep users updated if there are plans made specifically for that functionality.

  16. Can there be a system setting which controls the default option on Invoices for the Approve button.
    It is currently Approve & Email and we would like to have the default as just Approve.

    If it was a system setting companies could chose best option for them.

    Hi community, we’ve just released some new keyboard shortcuts to new invoicing, that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with some simple keyboard entry options. 

    There’s a range of different shortcuts that you can explore, and in particular a few that I wanted to call out for ‘Approve’ options that I know will be of most interest to you, here;

    • Approve (Ctrl-Alt-A OR Cmd-Opt-A on a Mac)
    • Approve & add another (Ctrl-Alt-O OR Cmd-Opt-O on a Mac)
    • Approve & print PDF (Ctrl-Alt-R OR Cmd-Opt-R on a Mac)
    • Approve & email / send eInvoice (Ctrl-Alt-E OR Cmd-Opt-E on a Mac)

    While you get used to the combinations of shortcuts our product team have added small prompts to highlight these in the product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can see them all on Xero Central

  17. An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing

    Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
    In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.

  18. The new invoicing alerts you to a credit on a customer's account if you APPROVE an invoice but if you APPROVE AND ADD ANOTHER invoice it simply moves right on and does not mention the credit. Please could the apply credit option be available regardless of the way you finalise your invoice.

  19. In the custom reports menu, if you are no longer using a report but may need it again, the only option is to leave it there or delete. There is no option to archive the report. It would be good to have this option in case you need to refer to the report later.
