Currently, for monthly employees, Xero does not take into consideration the fact that they have been set up to be paid the same amount each month, therefore the days in the month are meaningless from a pay perspective. Unfortunately, this means that the basis leave accrues on to work out how many hours a public holiday/personal/annual leave day should be when leave is entered is also meaningless. Instead of defaulting to 7.6 (or 8) hours/day leave taken, it does a calculation based on the number of working days in a month. So if someone is being paid on the basis…

  2. Payroll Employee Summary Report

    Is there a way to have this report show the actual period the wages are for? Currently the report shows "for the period 17 April 2024 to 17 April 2024, which is the date the payroll is paid. BUT the period is actually for 10 April 2024 to 16 April 2024.

  3. Xero recommends creating a new, duplicate employee record when a terminated employee returns to the organisation. This can also happen when an employee switches from permanent to casual, as they need to be terminated to pay out annual leave.

    Due to HR add-ons that make the issue of setting up a new, duplicate employee in Xero extremely complicated and almost unworkable, I would really like to see an additional workflow in Xero to handle this. I have an employee with an Attachment of Earnings Order (AEO) and whilst I have been able to set up the amount to be deducted on the payslip template each month, it appears that it is not possible to enter an opening balance on Xero for this deduction. I don't know if it is usual to show a YTD figure for AEOs - certainly Student loans have a YTD figure on the payslip and I would imagine that it will feature on the P60, but I can't see how Xero is going to produce this correctly without allowing me to…

  5. The new Payroll Activity and Summary Report is not as user friendly as the old one. It was much easier to read and find your employee name and net amount due on the older version. I also don't like how half an employees details can be on one page and the rest on the next page. I would like to revert to the old style, if possible?

If I want to change the Payment Frequency for Superannuation from quarterly to monthly, I currently have to do it for each and every employee individually, A fair waste of time because there are many employees on the list to change, but I've done it. When it becomes mandatory in 2024 to pay all employees fortnightly, I'm hoping to be able to 'Select All' employees, and select to change the Payment Frequency' from Monthly to Fortnightly. Do you know if this has been discussed or is likely to become an option for us?

  8. It would be great to be able to filter by the PAYROLL DATE not just the DUE DATE for Superannuation Payments.
    This would make it a lot easier when creating smaller super batch payments.
    Currently, we pay our 100 staff's super each month (30 days after) and this means I need to manually click next to each individual payment line. I can multi-select all, but that will select every single line for all months.

    Hey community, 👋 thanks for all your support on this idea, I’m pleased to let you know that this has been delivered for UK Payroll initially! It includes the ability to select the date range you’re interested in, and check boxes to either select all results or multiple. Then you can download your selection as a single PDF of multiple payslips.

    For users in AU and NZ we know this is a highly anticipated feature, however to be open this is not any immediate plans for those teams so we’ll leave this idea open. While we appreciate it doesn’t help employers needing bulk downloads, employees can be invited into the Xero Me portal to self-serve payslip collection.

  10. The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

  12. Ability to restrict which pay items an employee can view in Xero Me to only those that apply to that employee. Without this ability employees sometimes choose pay items that do not apply to them. Most often this is picked up at the authorisation stage but why allow the possibility for error in the first place.

  13. It would be good to see the number of notes in the Notes Tab (perhaps in brackets, for example: 'Notes (2)'), so you can see at a glance, if there are any notes for the Employee and if yes, how many.

  14. If in a 'normal' pay run an employee takes Annual Leave then Leave loading is shown as a separate line item - clear to the payroll person and the employee. However in a Final Pay run it does not show. Being consolidated with the leave sum is not obvious. Please keep to the 'normal' format, then it's clear to everyone

    • It would be helpful if we could retrieve copies or make reprints of prior year payments. This is particular helpful where a new client comes on board, and you will not have history on files.

  18. Hi I need a detailed report like the Payroll transaction list report that also includes the account code the amount was posted too. I want to reconcile the journal posting to the Indvidual's so i can see who is incorrectly setup.

  19. Make creating leave requests functional when using keyboard entry.

    Currently, when I want to create a leave request, I:
    - go to the top menu, tab across to Payroll and select (4 keystrokes),
    - arrow down to Leave and select (4 keystrokes),
    - tab through to New Request and select (15 keystrokes),
    and then no matter how much I try I cannot get to select either Leave or Cash Out Leave without using the mouse.

    Then, once I have used the mouse to get the new leave request pop-up, I have to:
    - tab to the employee field (3 keystrokes)…

  20. When a leave request comes in for approval and the employee can take leave in advance (the box is ticked), it should show you how many hours the employee has available. This amount should be the number available minus the leave balance that has already been approved in the system. The leave balance report is only useful when employees can't take leave in advance in their first year. It's a challenge each time (especially leading up to Christmas) to calculate leave that is available before approving the request because you have to review how much leave has been approved in…
