  1. Need a placeholder for title (Mr/Ms etc) for cover letters. It should be an easy implementation, as tax returns should already have that as a label. We need it for the address section of the cover letter.

  2. It's great that there is now the option to finalise and create a bill on a BAS...however that is not the default choice for Tax & BAS Agents so it would be nice if the big button was to FINALISE the BAS and the small button with the option to create the bill. Leave it as default in the linked to ATO BAS (lodge and create bill) but for BAS that aren't being lodged in Xero directly it's not helpful.

  3. It would be useful to be able to file historic tax returns prior to the dates shown in Xero. I have a client who submitted his own accounts but has never submitted his own tax returns so we need to file 4 returns for him but we are only able to go back 2 years.

    Hi Natalia, just to make sure I'm sharing this back with the right team internally. Where abouts is your client based. Our Tax products for each region are developed separately for their own needs and regulations so this information will make sure I get it back to the right team to consider.

  4. I would like a tax screen similar to the jobs, where I can see clients tax return status, taxes owing and overdue returns. It would be useful to have the option to update a client's return to show as not required or Auto Assess.

  5. We have some clients that have multiple businesses under their personal names. Can we please have individual worksheets for each business to input income and expenses which then automatically totals into the business schedule in the main form?

    At the moment in XERO tax, we need to put the grand totals into the business schedule, then split the amounts across the businesses for each expense/income line item. This is not practical as we generally receive separate figures for each business, not a grand total.

  6. We would like to see more custom report options that reflect the returns so we can interrogate and pull information out of Xero tax in relation to clients

    In particular, get a list of every client that has a number in the Tax Return Labels – Interest Expense or Interest Expense overseas or Royalty Expenses Overseas - See attach screenshots

It would be good if Xero Tax calculated the estimated PAYG instalment payable in SMSF Tax Returns as we use this to inform our clients of what amounts they are up for in the new financial year, a very important piece of information for them to consider re timing and amount of cashflow outgoings. Xero Tax does it for individuals so not sure how difficult it would be to make it apply for all entities subject to the PAYG Instalment system.

  9. A quick individual tax calculator - just requires taxable income and PAYG to be entered - and the tax, offsets and medicare is auto calculated. Tick box for resident, tax free threshold and private health.

    Handisoft has a tax calculator that does this - the estimated tax is calculated in 10 seconds. Much better and quicker than the ATO's calculators (and the ATO doesn't do current year - only prior).

  10. We have noticed an error, where, when managed fund distributions are prefilled from the ATO, a zero is put in the Item 24 - Other Income

    This causes an error for each managed fund prefill that needs to be manually fixed by going in and deleting that entry in the schedule.

    I just recently had a client with 15+ managed fund imports (owned jointly with his wife, so same issue on her side) which meant I had to waste quite a bit of time going into each schedule, only to delete the zero at the bottom.

  11. Losses carried forward have to be manually entered into XPM tax each year. It would be great if the information flowed through automatically from the tax return so that all we have to do is confirm it matches the IRD assessment. At a minimum it would be great if the losses to carry forward figure from 2023 automatically rolled forward to 2024 once it has been confirmed.

  13. The Cover Letter shows the Taxable income and refundable/payable amount, can it also then include spousal tax return information so we can send one cover letter for two tax returns.

  14. Tax calculator - Handi has a button you can press for a tax calculator, just enter the income and it shows the Tax, Medicare & offsets (low income & former low & middle income). Awesome feature that allows you to show a client quickly why their refunds are low. Also allows a quick cross check.

  17. Allow mapping of tracking categories in Xero Tax.

    Xero Blue is better catered for tracking category use as opposed to subaccount creation, however, tracking categories from Xero Blue are unable to be mapped in Xero Tax. Therefore, manual entry is required to populate multiple schedules in Xero Tax.

    Example:
    • Client has two Rental Properties, therefore will have two Rental Schedules in the ITR
    • Income from both properties is mapped to a singular GL Account ‘Rental income’
    • The Income in Xero Blue file is segregated by tracking category option, e.g.
    o Tracking Category: Property
    o Category Options: Property…

  20. Every year we have to manually create tax returns for each client - would be great if the client is listed as an existing client on both XPM and ATO that XPM can bulk create the tax returns for that relevant year run. This would cut down a lot of admin time.
