Really appreciate those who’ve taken the time to share how this’d help in your day-to-day. We know being able to filter a Profit & Loss report by project would make it easier to understand how your jobs are performing.

Right now, the best workaround is to export your data and make adjustments for this in Excel, but we get that it adds extra steps.

There’s also the Profitability dashboard feature in Xero Projects, which gives a quick view of how each job is tracking, and may be helpful.

We’ll keep an active eye on the interest this idea continues to build through votes, but do want to be transparent that this is not in our roadmap for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for your input through Xero product ideas.

@karen Garrattley I manuallly journal our wages component out of each project monthly and also have in excess of 150 projects currently with new ones continually added. I also follow Grant Accounting for the majority of our projects so we are currently in the process of looking for an add on that will link to Xero specifically for projects as we feel we've outgrown what Xero has to offer - which is limited. So I feel your pain.

if you use tracking categories - add a new tracking category for each project with the same name and filter each report with this tracking category. When entering invoices and bills, use both the project AND the tracking category, you can get profit and loss reports (and others) per project.

Yes, that would be how we run the report, thank you! How can I free up some categories please? I have archived them in the tracking category area and we have less than 200 active projects.

Hi, we have been able to run a P&L for a project, using the filter to choose the project. This had been available for us for over three years but this past month the income is not pulling all invoices for a handful of projects.
How far up the 'Critical' list is this please?
We are a registered Charity and are required to report to our funders and require this report to do so. Therefore, this report is critical to our business.

Hi team, thanks for staying engaged with us here. From your feedback our product teams clearly understand there are legitimate use cases and scenarios in which you’d like to be able to simply unapprove a bill.

While seemingly simple there is a bit of underlying work that needs to be done within Bills to enable us to build this functionality - As you’ll have experienced within the Bills list view - we’re in the process of uplifting the pages in Bills with updated technology that’ll unlock our ability to develop features like unapprove.

So, while it’s not in our roadmap atm, we’re tuned in here and will continue to assess how we may solve this as we plan our future roadmap. I’ll make sure to share any progress with everyone here.
