Hi there,
I'm from Quotient (we integrate with Xero). We recently released a feature that lets you set a deposit as a percentage on quotes, supporting split or partial invoicing workflows with automatic tracking.
When the quote is accepted, Quotient automatically creates the deposit invoice in Xero (linked to the quote, showing it as partially invoiced), tracking remaining amounts without duplications or lost history.

Hi community, we appreciate the support in this idea and apologise for not engaging here sooner. Thanks for sharing how important this workflow is for your business.
Our current deposits release is focused on approved invoices, where a business can request an upfront deposit and then collect the remaining balance later on that invoice.
However, we know for some businesses this needs to begin earlier from the quote stage. While we consider how we might expand deposits in the longer term we want to be upfront that converting a quote to a deposit and remaining amount invoice isn’t in the roadmap as yet.
We’ll keep this idea updated as there’s more to share on the future of deposits with Xero.

Hi everyone,
I'm from Quotient (we integrate with Xero). We recently released a feature that handles exactly this workflow: set a deposit as a percentage directly on a quote.
When the customer accepts the quote, Quotient automatically creates the deposit invoice in Xero. It's properly linked so the quote shows as partially invoiced, and the remaining balance is clear for you to invoice later when the job is complete. No need to keep separate records or manually calculate the outstanding amount.

Hi everyone, we’d like to round back to share an update that the ability to accept deposits has now rolled out to all AU, NZ, UK, CA, SG and US organisations, and we expect to make this available to remaining regions soon.
Staying close to feedback from its release, our team have recently added a due date field in which you can select a specific date that payment of the deposit is expected if this differs from the Invoice due date.
I look forward to looping back to finalise once we’re at 100% roll out of deposits, and give you a hint of where we’ll be expanding functionality next!

Hi there,
I'm from Quotient (we integrate with Xero). While this suggestion is for deposits directly on invoices, we recently released a feature that lets you set a deposit as a percentage on quotes instead, as an alternative workflow that might appeal if you're using quotes upfront.
When the quote is accepted, Quotient automatically creates the deposit invoice in Xero (linked to the quote, showing it as partially invoiced). The customer sees a link to it right away (and can pay online if set up in Xero). You can then invoice the balance later as needed.

Thanks for the idea, Pilar. It'll be good to get sense of the appetite for this here.
While this isn't something we have planned at present, perhaps you could make use of an advanced branding template and specifying the need for a signature via the Quotes terms and conditions?
We have a discussion around customising with docx. templates where others in community often help one another - you're welcome to join

For anyone who might be interested, we recently added eSignatures as an option for accepting quotes (through Quotient): https://www.quotientapp.com/blog/new-esignatures-and-acceptance-enhancements
Quotient has a nice integration with Xero.
Hi there,
I'm from Quotient (we integrate with Xero). We recently released a feature that lets you set a deposit as a percentage on quotes, supporting split or partial invoicing workflows with automatic tracking.
After quote acceptance, Quotient creates the initial deposit invoice in Xero, linked and showing remaining balances. For splitting into multiple invoices (e.g., monthly over a project), our split invoices feature handles this with clear tracking until the full quote amount is invoiced.
