Hi community, circling back on this idea we want to be upfront that we don’t have plans in the near term to add Description as a column in the Invoice list.
That said, we really appreciate everyone who shared their use cases, and our new JAX tool may help with many of these needs.
With JAX, you can ask questions about your invoices, such as:
- “Show me invoices from the last 30 days that include <product or description>”
- “Summarise my last 20 invoices in a table, including a summary of the product and/or description for each line item”
While we’re not planning to add this field directly to the Invoice list, I’d really encourage you to give JAX a try and see whether it helps achieve what you need here. Thanks

Hi team, we appreciate the on-going support and feedback we're receiving on this idea and pleased to be able to share this update. Our product team are actively exploring how we can best solve for the needs raised here, although at this time are unable to provide any set timeframes.
They are very much aware of the appetite from our community on this, and as part of their exploration have reached out some users here as they gather insights.
For the time being we'll shift to In discovery and I'll return as soon as there is more on this to share.

Appreciate the interest in being able to search by description. While we're attentive to your feedback, I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for developing this atm.
We're staying close to feedback on how we can improve navigation for our customers when using Xero, and I'll let you know if there is any development planned surrounding this, here. Thanks

For a long while I'd presumed that what I was looking for must not be present (wrongly), so I am amazed to discover that it is not possible to search invoices by the content of the item descriptions, and I must manually go through and open invoices manually instead to find what I am looking for... what century is this!?
